To enable the use of a single use digital camera for acquiring, selecting and storing images, thereby providing the ability to delete unwanted images, a method is disclosed in which a customer is provided a single use digital camera, which the customer uses for acquiring, selecting and storing digital images, return of the digital camera is accepted from the customer after the storing of the images and the selected images are retrieved for the customer. The single use digital camera does not provide the customer the ability to retrieve the stored images. A system that provides the ability to perform the steps of the method for use of a single use digital camera is also described.

To enable the use of a single use digital camera for acquiring, selecting and storing images, that allows a customer to submit the captured images for development from a convenient location, while also providing the ability to delete unwanted images, a method is disclosed in which a customer is provided a single use digital camera, which the customer uses for acquiring, selecting and storing data corresponding to digital images, the data corresponding to selected images is received from the customer after the storing of the data and the selecting of the images. The single use digital camera does not provide the customer the ability to retrieve the stored data in image form. A method which includes additional steps allows the removal of selected ones of the data from the digital camera thereby preparing the camera for re-use. A system that provides the ability to perform the steps of the method for use of a single use digital camera is also described.

A recording and reproducing device and method and program thereof is proposed, in which editing properties of the file of voice information recorded and stored are enhanced so as to exceptionally enhance the usability. In the recording and reproducing device and method and program thereof, in case a portion of the selected file on voice information is taken as unnecessary, each image located at the starting point of time and the end point of time of the portion of the file from among each image displayed is specified, and a portion of the file corresponding to the section from the image at the specified starting point of time to the image at the end point of time is erased, and after that, the remainder of the files before and after the section is connected to each other.
Abstract:
A digital camera reduces the possibility that a user's release operation is disabled and performs photographing operations at the appropriate times. The digital camera (1) can load a memory card (40a) and a magnetic disk card (40b) as a plurality of recording media, wherein a CPU (17) can independently make accesses to the memory card (40a) and the magnetic disk card (40b). The CPU (17) performs a plurality of tasks in parallel, whereby a captured image is recorded on either one of the memory card (40a) and the magnetic disk card (40b) while predetermined processing is performed on the other. In such a configuration, a captured image which is stored in image memory (21) through a photographing operation can be recorded at an early stage on one of the recording media. This enables continuous photographing and the like even in such a condition that recording on a recording medium which is selected as a subject of recording is not allowed.

An electronic camera comprises imaging means for optoelectrically converting a subject image to generate electronic image data, temporary storage means for temporarily storing the image data produced by the imaging means, image display means for displaying an image based on the image data stored in the temporary storage means, recording means for recording the image data stored in the temporary storage means on a recording medium, erasing means for erasing the image data recorded on the recording medium, instructing means for instructing the recording means to abort recording on the recording medium of the image data stored in the temporary storage means or for instructing the era-sing means to erase the image data recorded on the recording medium, and control means for controlling the image display means to display thereon the image based on the image data stored in the temporary storage means for a predetermined period of time after capturing, for controlling the recording means to abort recording on the recording medium of the image data stored in the temporary storage means when an instruction is given from the instructing means while the recording means is recording the image data on the recording medium, and for controlling the erasing means to erase the image data recorded on the recording medium when an instruction is given from the instructing means after the recording means has recorded the image data on the recording medium.

A recording medium for storing virtual deletion information, and recording and/or reproducing method and apparatus therefor are provided. The recording medium includes a first region having a plurality of pictures, and a second region having first virtual deletion information for the still pictures, and still picture group information for separating the still pictures in the first region into a predetermined maximum number of groups in order to manage the still pictures at a group level, wherein the first virtual deletion information is within the still picture group information, and if the first virtual deletion information is set to a virtual delete state, the corresponding still picture is not to be reproduced. Accordingly, file extent information can be prevented from excessively increasing by maximally preventing a recording area from being scattered, when some of a data file are deleted by a user's request.

A simplified user interface is provided for transferring a captured image. Several steps requiring multiple user inputs have been simplified to occur in response to a single user input. Among other steps, the separate step of selecting the communication mode of the device prior to selection to transmit an image has been eliminated. Additionally, the separate steps requiring two user interactions of connecting to the device and transmitting to the device have been simplified into a single step.

A digital camera (10) includes an SDRAM (26). When 40 frames of image signals are accumulated in the SDRAM (26), a combined file including the 40 frames of image signals is created in a data area of a magnetooptical disk (36), and FAT information of the combined file is written into an FAT area of the magnetooptical disk (36). When a predetermined condition is satisfied, image data of the combined file is read out by each 1 frame, and an image file including the read image data is created in the data area of the magnetooptical disk (36), and the FAT information of the image file is written into the FAT area of the magnetooptical disk (36). Such the process is repeated for 40 times, and the combined file is later deleted.
