摘要:
A uniformly applied monolithic roofing surface membrane at appropriate thickness and pitch is field applied upon a surface. The surface membrane may be field applied from a spray applicator foam dispenser moving between two parallel tracks. The uniform application of foam at each pass is assured, by accelerating the speed of the foam dispenser at the end of each pass, by providing continuous movement of the spray applicator upon the tracks. The monolithic roofing surface monolithic thus formed includes a spontaneously curable polymer, such as low rise polyurethane adhesive or polyurethane foam, having a mesh such as of fabric or fiberglass therein, with a silicone coating thereon.

A flame retardant, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding gasket construction. The construction includes a resilient core member formed of a foamed elastomeric material, an electrically-conductive fabric member surrounding the outer surface of the core member, and a flame retardant layer coating at least a portion of the interior surface of the fabric member. The flame retardant layer is effective to afford the gasket construction with a flame class rating of V-0 under Underwriter's Laboratories (UL) Standard No. 94.

The present invention is directed to a novel process of making N-isopropyl acrylamide (NiPAm) polymers based upon the reaction of poly(acrylic acid) and N-isopropylamine. The disclosed method of the present invention uses polyacrylic acid as a starting material to synthesize NiPAm polymers. In one embodiment, the present invention discloses a condensation reaction of an intermediate salt to form homopolymers, copolymers and terpolymers of N-isopropyl acrylamide (NiPAm) with acrylic acid and/or alkyl acrylates in a molten state, which is adaptable to a continuous reactive extrusion process. Binder compositions, water-dispersible products and thermoformable articles containing the NiPAm polymers are also disclosed.

A low-density, syntactic foam material is provided according to the invention. The syntactic foam material is prepared by mixing together a plurality of microballoons and a finely divided solid thermosetting resin. Fibers are also preferably incorporated into the material during processing to impart specific properties. The mixture is heated to allow the thermosetting resin to flow and wet the microballoons in the mixture. The mixture is then cured to set and crosslink the thermosetting resin to form the syntactic foam of the invention. The syntactic foam material has highly uniform properties and can be used in aerospace applications.

Water-resistant, stain-repellant, anti-microbial fabrics are prepared by treating a woven fabric with a topical treating composition containing an acrylate copolymer having a glass transition temperature in the range of 10.degree. C. to 50.degree. C., a substantial amount of fluorochemical, and an antimicrobial, and curing the treated fabric at elevated temperatures. Further increase in water repellency and stain resistance is achieved by a high solids secondary coating applied to one side of the fabric only. The treated fabric retains the appearance, hand, and feel of textile material while being transfer-printable.

The present invention relates to a three-dimensionally reinforced ablative/insulative composite that includes a high density fabric-based ablative layer and a low density resin-based insulative layer that is chemically bound to the ablative layer. This composite further includes stitches of a temperature-resistant thread which extend through the ablative layer and form reinforcing loops within the insulative layer. These loops are preferably chemically and mechanically bound to the insulative layer.

In a method for bonding a foam-fabric composite to a molded foam core, particularly suitable for use as an automotive cushion assembly, specific advantageous polymeric MDI-based foams are used to achieve consistently excellent bond strength. In the method, a foam layer is flame laminated to a fabric layer. Then the foam-fabric laminate and an air impervious adhesive film are placed over a mold surface, and the adhesive is drawn against the foam of the foam-fabric laminate and the fabric layer is urged against the mold surface by applied vacuum. The foam core pad is placed adjacent to the adhesive film. The film is heated and diffused into the foam pad and into the foam of the foam-fabric laminate, respectively, and allowed to cure. The foam layer laminated to the fabric is formed as the reaction product of a polyether polyol or a graft polyether polyol with from about 30 to about 60 parts by weight of an MDI or a polymeric MDI/TDI blended isocyanate or mixtures thereof, from about 1.5 to 3.0 parts by weight water as blowing agent, from about 0.05 to about 0.20 parts by weight tin catalyst, from about 0.15 to 0.90 parts by weight amine catalyst and from about 0.5 to about 1.5 parts by weight silicone surfactant, wherein all amounts are based on 100 parts by weight polyol.
