摘要： A power module for a motor in which the module is arranged to house both the high power devices needed to drive the phase windings of the motor and the control electronics needed to control the operation of the high power devices. The components are arranged such that the thermal energy generated by the high power devices is directed away from the control electronics for subsequent dissipation. An insulated metal substrate is used as the base of the module for directing the thermal energy. Further, the module components can be easily assembled through the use of solderless resilient connections from the control electronics to the other components in the module. The module employs a base, a power shell coupled to the base, and a circuit board positioned within the internal chamber of the power shell. The power shell has a plurality of walls forming an internal chamber and at least one conductive region. At least one electronic device is mounted to the conductive region.

摘要： A generator rotor lead path configuration includes a plurality of electrically conductive components attached to each other. These components may include a cleat and a wedge. The improved lead path inhibits, if not prevents, lead path failure. 摘要： An electric motor to be used with a termination network that is integral with the motor and connected to the motor's supply motor lines for reducing voltage between a motor terminal and a transmission line connected to a pulse width modulated drive when high frequency surges, or spikes, are present. Further, the termination network will not adversely effect sinusoidal performance ratings of the motor on which it is used. In addition, since the termination network is integral with the motor, the termination network assembly can be installed during assembly of the motor, thus lowering the cost of installation.

摘要： The present invention is directed to a high speed spindle motor comprising a stator assembly including a stator having multiple conductors that create a plurality of magnetic fields when electrical current is conducted by the conductors and a body of a phase change material such as a thermoplastic substantially encapsulating the stator. A rotatable hub having a magnet connected thereto is in operable proximity to the stator. The high speed motor also includes a shaft, a bearing surrounding the shaft and one of the bearing or shaft being fixed to the stator assembly and the other of the bearing or shaft being fixed to the rotatable hub. Hard disc drives using the motor, and methods of developing and constructing the motor and hard disc drives are also disclosed.

The armature includes an armature winding and a commutator connected to the armature winding. The stator is disposed to magnetically interact with the armature. The brushes are disposed to engage with the commutator to controllably provide electric current to the windings via the commutator. The electric motor further includes an inductor (e.g., a wire-wound inductor) electrically connected in a series relationship with at least one of the brushes and a thermal cutoff device electrically connected in a series relationship with the inductor. The thermal cutoff device is disposed within at least a portion of the inductor.

The unit plate includes a rotation support arrangement, which rotatably supports a rotator. The electric circuit components also include stationary contact members, each of which includes a contact section that is slidably engageable with a movable contact of the rotor.
