    摘要: A clamp having a U-shaped clamp body which engages a profile such as a rectangular pipe on three sides, while a fourth side of the profile is engaged by a bolt which is secured by a nut and extends through conical holes in the free legs of the clamp body. Conical washers on the bolt engage the conical holes on the far side from the pipe, meaning that the bolt is located eccentrically in the holes. Tightening the bolt the nut makes the clamp body squeeze the top side and the bottom side of the pipe. The conical washers in the conical holes make the bolt squeeze the pipe in the direction of the back side of the pipe. The pipe is thus squeezed from all sides.

A hollow cylindrical member (200) blocks axial movement of the hub (130) relative to the steering column (12). The hollow cylindrical member (200) is radially contractible for insertion into the second passage (150) and is radially expandable into contact with the second surface (152) and the steering column (12).

    摘要: A bracket and washer combination providing secure holding and positioning of a magnetic sensor, wherein an optimal air gap is automatically set as the washer is brought into a slot of the bracket due to facial interaction therebetween. In one embodiment, the sidewalls of the slot have teeth of predetermined pitch, while the washer has smooth sidewalls. In a second embodiment, the sidewalls of the washer have teeth of a predetermined pitch angle, while the sidewalls of the slot are smooth. The member having toothed sidewalls is formed of a material harder than the member having smooth sidewalls. The washer and slot are dimensioned so that the sidewalls of the washer tightly abut the sidewalls of the slot, wherein the teeth of the toothed sidewalls inscribe corresponding grooves into the smooth sidewalls as the washer is pressed into the slot along a transverse axis. Consequently, as the corresponding grooves are inscribed, the washer sidewalls are caused to move in relation to the slot sidewalls in a direction parallel to the pitch of the teeth, resulting in a relative movement between the washer and the bracket along a longitudinal axis. However, since the washer is affixed by a bolt so that it is constrained from moving along the longitudinal axis, the relative movement is provided by the bracket moving along the longitudinal axis in relation to the washer.

The sleeve has an inner tube which connects to two end plates extending radially and inwardly from one of two ends thereof so as to define a cylindrical recess between the sleeve and the inner tube. The inner tube has an oval outer periphery and two slots defined diametrically opposite therein. The sleeve has a transverse opening defined therein and which communicates with one of the two slots. A longitudinal recess is defined in an inner periphery of the sleeve and which communicates with the transverse opening so that the second tube and the first tube are firmly and respectively received in the inner tube and the tubular recess by rotating the sleeve.

The method includes the steps of forming a recess in a first of said members, forming a second member with a portion that seats in the recess of the first member, molding a liner of thermoplastic to one of the members, which thermoplastic is deformable but not more than slightly compressible, and seating the portion of the second member in the recess of the first member with one of the members engaging the liner to displace a portion of the liner into a void space in one of the members to thus form a tightly gripping connection between the members. A composite knob and its connection to shaft made in accordance with this method are also disclosed.
