Abstract: A closed-loop microelectromechanical accelerometer includes a substrate of semiconductor material, an out-of-plane sensing mass and feedback electrodes. The out-of-plane sensing mass, of semiconductor material, has a first side facing the supporting body and a second side opposite to the first side. The out-of-plane sensing mass is also connected to the supporting body to oscillate around a non-barycentric fulcrum axis parallel to the first side and to the second side and perpendicular to an out-of-plane sensing axis. The feedback electrodes are capacitively coupled to the sensing mass and are configured to apply opposite electrostatic forces to the sensing mass.

Abstract: An anchor assembly for a microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) vibration sensor suspension comprises an anchor body and at least one spring integrally extending from the anchor body. Each spring comprises a first section integrally extending at a first end away from the anchor body to a second end, and first lateral portions of second and third sections extending in opposite lateral directions from the second end. Each of the second and third sections includes a first leg that extends at a first end from the first lateral portion toward the anchor body, a second lateral portion that extends from a second end of the first leg away from the first section, and a second leg that extends from the second lateral portion at a first end away from the anchor body, wherein second ends of the second legs extend farther from the anchor body than the first lateral portions.

Abstract: A sensor mounting device and method to accurately mount a sensor to a test asset for data collection and component validation, the sensor mounting device including a leveling plate equipped with a level indicator, an alignment shelf adapted to constrain the movement of a sensor and hold the sensor level relative to the level indicator, and various protruding structures for aligning the mounting device with the test asset. The sensor mounting device may further include a base structure to support the leveling plate and allow a user to adjust the vertical position of the sensor to be mounted. The base structure may include a plurality of spanning members on which the leveling plate is mounted as to allow the leveling plate to be adjusted vertically.

Abstract: A robotic device and method for inspecting a pipeline to assess metal loss, the presence of defects and corrosion effects. The robotic device is an inline inspection tool that can establish a positional address in the pipeline using known positional benchmarks. The robotic device comprises flexible electronic caliper sensors measuring pipe diameter and an elastic foam body to prevent seizing within the pipeline. A removable PCB enables interchangeable operation with in-kind devices of different diameters and/or with the computers, extracting and plotting the data. The method of measurement may use data fusion between different instruments and measurement methodologies.
