The retaining member at least partially retains the second body with respect to the first body. A method of forming a tool for forming or servicing a wellbore includes disposing a retaining member comprising a shape memory material in a space between a first body and a second body and transforming the shape memory material from a first solid phase to a second solid phase by application of a stimulus to cause the retaining member to create a mechanical interference.

    摘要: An earth-boring tool comprises a bit body and first and second depth of cut control (“DOCC”) features mounted thereon. The first and second DOCC features comprise a first rubbing surface having a first surface area and a second rubbing surface having a second surface area, respectively, for contacting a subterranean formation. The second surface area is different from the first surface area such that the first and second DOCC features distribute a load attributable to applied weight on bit over the first and second rubbing surfaces at different rates. Methods of forming an earth-boring tool include selecting first and second DOCC features having different rates of engagement with the subterranean formation and mounting the first and second DOCC features on a bit body.

    摘要: A thermoelectric material includes a polymer matrix and a plurality of partially coated particles dispersed within the polymer matrix. Each particle of the plurality has a discontinuous coating of metal on a carbon-based material. A method includes dispersing functionalized particles comprising a carbon-based material in a solvent; providing a metal salt in the solvent; and forming a plurality of distinct metal volumes on a surface of the functionalized particles to form partially coated particles. The distinct metal volumes are thermally insulated from other volumes of the plurality. A composition of matter includes a discontinuous coating of metal on a surface of a carbon-based material. The carbon-based material is selected from the group consisting of graphene oxide and functionalized carbon nanotubes.

    摘要: A slip-on hydraulic packer system and method. The packer system includes a tubular, a packer assembly that includes a piston moveable within a cylinder, a sealing element connected to the piston, and a biasing member connected between a stop member and the piston. Retaining elements selectively connect the packer system to an exterior surface of the tubular. A predetermined amount of hydraulic pressure may be applied to move the piston moving the sealing element from an unset position to a set position. The retaining elements may be snap rings and/or set screws that engage a profile on the tubular. Hydraulic pressure may be applied from an interior of the tubular through a port in the tubular or from an exterior of the tubular through a port in the cylinder. The predetermined amount of hydraulic pressure may shear an element or burst a member before moving the piston.

    摘要: An earth-boring tool includes a body and a rotating member disposed over a protrusion from the body and configured to rotate relative to the body. A bearing assembly may be disposed within a cavity of the rotating member. The bearing assembly may include an inner race coupled with the body and an outer race coupled with the rotating member. A bearing retainer may be affixed within the cavity of the rotating member and may retain the bearing assembly within the cavity of the rotating member. The earth-boring tool further includes a seal assembly including a sealing element rotationally coupled with the rotating member, the sealing element comprising a first sealing surface. A second sealing surface may be disposed on the inner race, and an energizing element urges the first sealing surface into sealing engagement with the second sealing surface.

    摘要: A liner string has a hanger/packer near its upper end for connection and sealing to a surrounding tubular. A polished bore assembly is located above the packer and is pushed down after the liner hanger is set to slide over a metal to metal seal on the packer body. A surface string is then tied into the polished bore with another metal to metal seal against the polished bore. The liner string has just metal to metal seals going up to the surface for well pressure containment. Elastomer seals to the polished bore are eliminated. Placement of the polished bore above the packer body allows for a larger diameter polished bore so as to minimize restriction to future production flow. The liner top packer seal is also metal to metal as offered by Baker Hughes Incorporated under the ZX trademark.

Furthermore, the earth-boring tool monitoring system shifts the contour plot based on a cumulative amount of damage experienced by the earth-boring tool.

    摘要: An earth-boring tool for removing subterranean formation material in a borehole comprises a tool body having a central axis defining an axial center thereof and a leg extending in an axial direction from the tool body. A bearing assembly is removably coupled to the leg and includes a bearing shaft and a base member. The base member encircles a portion of the bearing shaft and abuts against a surface of the leg. A roller cone is rotatably coupled to the bearing assembly and has a rotational axis about which the roller cone rotates on the bearing assembly when the roller cone removes subterranean formation material in the borehole. A method of assembling a rotatable cutting structure assembly including the bearing assembly includes coupling the bearing shaft to the leg by disposing a mechanical fastener through an aperture formed through the leg and into a cavity of the bearing shaft.
