Abstract:
An additive composition comprising a graft and aminoheteroaromatic derivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said C.sub.3 -C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 5000 to 500,000 which has been reacted with at least one olefinic carboxylic acid acylating agent to form one or more acylating reaction intermediates characterized by having a carboxylic acid acylating function within their structure and reacting said reaction intermediate with an aminoheteroaromatic compound and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.
Abstract:
Multi-functional viscosity index improvers for lubricating oils containing an EPM or EPDM polymer onto which has been grafted an unsaturated functional monomer containing phenothiazine.
Abstract:
A lubricant additive prepared by the method comprising:(a) mixing a polmer consisting of a polymerized ethylene and at least one (C.sub.3 -C.sub.10) alpha-monolefin, with methyl acrylamido-glycolate methyl ether to form poly [(ethylene-c-alpha-mono-olefin) -graft-(methyl acrylamido glycolate methyl ether)];(b) reacting said poly (methyl acrylamido glycolate methyl ether) with an amino aromatic compound to form the corresponding poly [(ethylene-co-alpha monolefin)-graft-(methyl acryl amidoglycolate)] aromatic amide; and(c) recovering said aromatic amide lubricant additive product.
Abstract:
An additive composition comprising a graft and amine-derivatized copolymer prepared from ethylene and at least one C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and, optionally, a polyene selected from non-conjugated dienes and trienes comprising from about 15 to 80 mole percent of ethylene, from about 20 to 85 mole percent of said C.sub.3 to C.sub.10 alpha-monoolefin and from about 0 to 15 mole percent of said polyene having an average molecular weight ranging from about 5,000 to 500,000 which has been reacted with at least one olefinic carboxylic acid acylating agent to form one or more acylating reaction intermediates characterized by having a carboxylic acid acylating function within their structure and reacting said reaction intermediate with a hydrocarbon substituted or unsubstituted N-naphthylphenylenediamine and a lubricating oil composition containing same are provided.
Abstract:
Alkyl substituted or unsubstituted, bicyclic keto acids may be prepared by cyclizing unsaturated, cyclic dicarboxylic acid anhydrides in the presence of a strong Bronsted acid catalyst. The products may be useful as corrosion inhibitors in alcohol fuels and as intermediates in petroleum, pharmaceutical and additive manufacture.
Abstract:
A keto-acid amide derived from the amination of a bicyclic keto-acid with an N-alkyl-alkylene diamine. The keto-acid amides are useful as carburetor detergents for motor fuel compositions.
Abstract:
Novel condensation products of N-alkyl-alkylenediamines and isopropylidene malonate are prepared by refluxing the reactants in solvents inert to the reactants, removing this solvent and extracting the reaction system with an inert solvent such as xylene.
Abstract:
A novel fuel composition contains ethanol or gasohol plus, as a wear-inhibiting additive, a quaternary ammonium reaction product of an ether amine (R-O-R").sub.a -NH.sub.3-a, typically C.sub.13 H.sub.27 -O-(CH.sub.2).sub.3 -NH.sub.2 and a phosphate or phosphonate, typically tetradecyl phosphonate.
