摘要: Methods of treating contamination, particularly bacterial contamination, in an open culture of microalgae with organic carbon are described herein. The methods comprise reducing the pH of a culture for a period of time and then raising the pH of the culture, wherein the culture comprises the presence of a first acid and the culture is contacted with a second acid to reduce the culture pH from a first pH value to a second pH value. The culture is maintained at the second pH value for at least 5 minutes before the culture pH is raised from the second pH value by contact with a base.

摘要: A method for separating polar lipids and neutral lipids from plant material, in particular, intact algal cells, using an amphipathic solvent set and a hydrophobic solvent set. Some embodiments include dewatering intact algal cells and then extracting polar lipids and neutral lipids from the algal cells. The methods provide for single and multistep extraction processes which allow for efficient separation of algal polar lipids and neutral lipids from a wet algal biomass while avoiding emulsification of extraction mixtures. These polar lipids are high value products which can be used as surfactants, detergents, and food additives. These neutral lipids are also high value products which can be used to generate renewable fuels.

摘要: Disclosed herein are aquafeed, animal feed and fertilizer compositions comprising microalgae clinched with minerals and a method of enriching microalgae with minerals in non-metabolized form. Specifically, the method includes the creation of an enriched microalgae product through the assimilation, reversible chelation, and absorption of supplemental minerals required in the diet of adult fish and other aquatic animals which minimizes leaching of the supplemental minerals before ingestion by the fish. Additionally, the enriched microalgae product can be used as both a direct feed or fertilizer, or as part of an aquafeed, non-aquatic animal feed, or plant fertilizer mixture. The combination and proportion of the minerals can be adjusted to the animal or plant receiving the mineral enriched algae composition.
