    Abstract: A terminal sealed portion is formed on an end portion of a hollow rod made of steel. An enclosed space is formed on an inner side of the hollow rod. At an end of the enclosed space, a terminal gap is formed. A volatile powdered rust inhibitor is supplied in the enclosed space. As the volatile powdered rust inhibitor is vaporized, the enclosed space is turned into a rust-inhibiting atmosphere. As the vaporized component of the volatile powdered rust inhibitor is adsorbed to an inner surface of the enclosed space, an inner surface rust-inhibiting film is formed. The vaporized component also enters inside the terminal gap, and forms a terminal rust-inhibiting film.

    Abstract: This outboard motor control device controls a plurality of outboard motors disposed on a rear portion of a hull of a boat. Each of the outboard motors includes a propulsion unit and a steering actuator. A boat includes an operation unit configured to operate the steering actuator and the propulsion unit. The operation unit is able to be positioned at a first position where the outboard motors do not generate a propulsion force of the boat and a second position where the outboard motors generate a propulsion force for moving the boat in a left-right direction. When the operation unit is moved from the first position to the second position and maintained at the second position, the outboard motors generate a first propulsion force during a first period from a first timing when the operation unit is moved to the second position to a second timing and subsequently generate a second propulsion force greater than the first propulsion force during a second period after the second timing.

    Abstract: As first-time laser irradiation is performed on a workpiece, an initial nugget is formed. By emitting a laser beam for the second time at the initial nugget, a diameter of a back-side nugget portion is increased. A nugget includes a front-side nugget portion formed in a first plate, the back-side nugget portion formed in a second plate, and an annular flat surface portion. The flat surface portion is along a boundary portion between the first plate and the second plate. In a thicknesswise cross section of the second plate, a tilt angle of a peripheral surface of the back-side nugget portion is increased as a thicknesswise position of the peripheral surface approximates to a rear face of the second plate.

    Abstract: An accumulator includes a pressure vessel and a partition portion separating an interior space of the pressure vessel into a liquid chamber and a gas chamber so that a volume ratio between the liquid chamber and the gas chamber in the pressure vessel is variable. The pressure vessel includes a first section including a thread portion for fastening the accumulator to a support member and a second section joined to the first section and formed by a single piece including a tool engagement portion capable of engaging with a tool for rotating the accumulator. The first section and the second section are fitted together by mating portions coaxial with the thread portion and the tool engagement portion.

    Abstract: A tensioner includes a movable section, a fixed section, a flat spiral spring, and a back-up spring. The movable section receives load from an entrained transmission body through a tension member. The fixed section supports the movable section so as to be capable of displacing. The flat spiral spring biases the movable section so as to resist the tension member. The flat spiral spring unwinds in a state in which there is a small inter-plate friction force in cases in which there is a large biasing force applied to the tension member to counter load acting from the tension member. The flat spiral spring winds-up in a state in which there is a large inter-plate friction force in cases in which there is a small biasing force applied to the tension member to counter load acting from the tension member. The back-up spring limits wind-up of the flat spiral spring.

    Abstract: Provided are a forming method for an arc spring, capable of easily and surely locating bearing faces on both end faces of a semi-finished product in predetermined positions, the bearing faces having lengths within permissible ranges in a circumferential direction. For a semi-finished product prior to curving an axis, it is determined whether circumferential lengths of bearing faces on both end faces are respectively within the permissible ranges based on end face image information of the both end faces imaged in an axial direction prior to the curving, a circumferential rotational position of the semi-finished product capable of respectively locating the bearing faces within the predetermined positions is specified using the end face image information, and the semi-finished product is rotated to the specified rotational position, and the wedge part is sequentially driven into inter-wires of the semi-finished product to deform the semi-finished product.
