摘要: Disclosed is a process for producing effectively a high performance optical material (e.g. a lens) made of a polyurethane resin, which is transparent and colorless without a strain. In this process, the optical material is produced without causing striation or clouding by polymerizing a polymerizable composition comprising a polythiol compound and a polyiso(thio)cyanate compound, and characterized in that a water content in the composition is 10 to 300 ppm.

摘要: A polymerizable composition for polythiourethane optical materials comprising a compound represented by the general formula (1), M(L)n  (1) wherein, in the formula, M is Al, Fe, Cu, Zn, Zr or Bi; L is a dithiocarbamic acid group, a sulfonic acid group, a mono- or di-alkyl phosphoric acid ester group, a substituted acetylacetonato group or a halogen; and n is an integer of 1 to 5, one or two or more isocyanates selected from the group consisting of isocyanate compounds and isothiocyanate compounds, and one or two or more active hydrogen compounds each having a mercapto group. The compounds represented by the general formula (1) exhibit catalytic activity equal to or superior to that of organotin catalysts having been employed as catalysts for the production of polythiourethane optical materials from the past, and have high safety. Further, the thus obtained polythiourethane resins satisfactorily meet the property requirements for optical materials, in particular, excelling in weather resistance. Therefore, the proposed catalysts are available as novel catalysts replacing the organotin catalysts.

摘要: A ferrule used for an optical fiber connector and a method for efficient production thereof are disclosed. The ferrule comprises a through-hole formed linearly along the axial line thereof and having a part of a small diameter for the insertion of an optical fiber, a part of a large diameter for the insertion of a sheathed optical fiber, and a diametrically tapered part intervening between the small diameter part and the large diameter part and diverging from the small diameter part to the large diameter part. The through-hole has a length of not less than 1 mm for the small diameter part and a length of less than 6 mm for the total of the small diameter part and the diametrically tapered part. In the production of this ferrule, the grinding work for the impartation of an outside diameter is implemented by causing the opposite end parts of a ceramic blank having an engaging part adapted to receive a rotational driving force to be rotatably supported with a double center cylindrical grinder and rotating a live center of the double center cylindrical grinder having formed thereon a fitting part for union with the engaging part thereby enabling the ceramic blank engaged with the live center to rotate and effecting the grinding work.

摘要: An image forming method and apparatus which forms an image by using PWM to properly reproduce tones at a low density in the image formation, and attain a high-quality image without reducing the resolution in the dot formation corresponding to a high density value. A color laser beam printer using the PWM to which the present invention is applied forms a latent image onto a photosensitive drum by the laser beam irradiated from a semiconductor laser. The waveform of a chopped wave signal used in the PWM is set to be unique with respect to each color component, and be asymmetrical to the center of each pixel represented by the image signal in synchronization with the waveform of the chopped signal. Accordingly, the interval of dots formed to correspond to each color component is relatively wide when the density value is small, while the interval is relatively narrow when the density value is large.
