The teachings presented herein enable a user terminal to perform a fast recovery from a radio link failure. In one aspect, the improvement in recovery time is achieved by commanding or otherwise causing the user terminal to perform radio link failure (RLF) recovery at a cell that is known to possess the user context, while considering that this cell should yield good radio conditions (if not the best) to the user terminal. A cell may be predefined for use by the user terminal in recovering its radio connection. Based on providing signal strength thresholds to the user terminal, for use in determining whether to use a predefined cell for reconnecting to the network, the user terminal attempts RLF recovery first in the predefined cell. By providing user context to the predefined cell in advance of a recovery attempt by the user terminal, the time for recovery is lessened. Note that the user terminal also may infer which cells are preferred.

In a method and device the TCP load offered in the uplink is manipulated such that an offered load asymmetry is achieved. Using such an arrangement it is possible to compensate for a link asymmetry when uplink and downlink connections are sharing the same uplink buffer in order to increase performance of the downlink. The method and device are capable of increasing the download performance both in the case when TCP connections are terminated in a different device than the terminal where the link layer is terminated, as well as when the TCP connections are terminated in the same device as the link-layer.

A method of scheduling data for transmission over the air interface of a wideband code division multiple access network, said data being transported over the air interface on a downlink shared channel. The method comprises receiving data in the form of IP packets at a radio network controller, segmenting said IP packets into protocol data units, and forwarding said protocol data units from the radio network controller to a radio base station serving one or more user terminals. The radio network controller identifies to the radio base station the protocol data units belonging to a common IP packet.
