    摘要: A poly(vinylbenzyl quaternary phosphonium) salt having the following general structure: M represents Fe or Zn;X represents F, Cl, Br or I;p is 3 when M represents Zn and p is 4 when M represents Fe;ortho, meta and para isomers of the vinyl benzyl moiety are included;R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represent hydrogen; alkyl having from 1 to 24 carbon atoms; hydroxy-; carboxy-; alkoxy-; carboalkoxy; acyloxy-; amino-; nitro-; cyano-; keto-; or halo-; and R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 may be independently substituted in the ortho, meta or para positions. The method comprises the steps of: fixing toner to a receiver in a fixing system, wherein said fixed toner possesses residual stress; and post-treating said fixed toner to at least partially relax said residual stress of said fixed toner.     摘要: A method of developing electrostatic images with a two component developer avoids the break-in period of developer by providing a fresh mixture of carrier and toner, which toner has a first particle size but replenishes the mixture in use with toner having a second particle size larger than the first particle size. This compensates for the tendency of electrostatic images to preferentially attract the larger particles in a toner mixture.

    摘要: The invention provides a mixture of coated carrier particles suitable for use in dry electrographic developer wherein each of the types of carrier particles occupies a position in the triboelectric continuum different from the position of the other type and the level of charge to which the mixture of carrier particles charges the toner in a developer continuously increases or decreases between a high level in which said mixture comprises all of one type of carrier particles to a low level in which said mixture comprises all of the other type of carrier particles.This type of carrier provides a simple way to adjust the charge on the toner provided by the carrier, that is, more of one of the types of carrier particles in the mixture can be added to the toner to either increase or decrease the charge on the toner.

    摘要: A method is described for the preparation of electrostatographic toner particles which involves the surface treatment of a pigment by depositing thereon a coating of an elastomeric thermoplastic polymer. The method involves preparing a polymer solution by dissolving an elastomeric thermoplastic polymer selected from the group consisting of linear styrene-isoprene-styrene triblock copolymers, linear styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene triblock copolymers, linear styrene-isoprene diblock copolymers and linear styrene-ethylene-propylene diblock copolymers in a first solvent capable of dissolving the polymer at ambient temperature; forming a pigment dispersion by mixing at ambient temperature a pigment, a first polymer material and a second solvent in which the elastomeric thermoplastic polymer is insoluble at ambient temperature; admixing the polymer solution with the pigment dispersion so resulting in the elastomeric thermoplastic polymer precipitating out upon the surface of the pigment; mixing the elastomeric thermoplastic polymer coated pigment dispersion thus formed with a solvent in which the elastomeric thermoplastic polymer is insoluble at ambient temperature and, optionally, a second polymer material and, optionally, a charge-control agent to form an organic phase; dispersing the organic phase in an aqueous phase comprising a particulate stabilizer and, optionally, a promoter; homogenizing the resultant mixture, and evaporating the solvent and washing and drying the resultant product.
