摘要： An apparatus for recording and reproducing a digital video signal on and from a common recording medium by using the head configuration common to the conventional one while maintaining exchangeability with the current analog VTR. An analog video and audio signals are recorded and reproduced on and from an video track and an underlying deep-layer track, respectively, by means of magnetic heads and magnetic heads. On the other hand, a digital video and audio signal is recorded and reproduced on and from two adjacent tracks by means of the magnetic heads for analog audio recording. During reproduction, an identification signal generating circuit generates an identification signal for discriminating a recorded signal, and a control signal is PWM modulated with the identification signal and recorded on a control track by means of a magnetic head.

摘要： A method of producing a tracking control signal in a rotary head type magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus and a rotary head type magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus capable of a proper tracking by the use of the tracking control signal. First and second tracking signals are recorded on local portions of each odd-numbered track and the first tracking signal and a third tracking signal are recorded on local portions of each even-numbered track in such a manner that the second tracking signals on two odd-numbered track adjacent to any one even-numbered track are not overlapped with each other and the third tracking signals on two even-numbered tracks adjacent to any one odd-numbered track are not overlapped with each other when viewed in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the tracks; upon scanning of a track crosstalk signals are detected from two adjacent track simultaneously with reproduction of the first and second or third tracking signals; and the detected crosstalk signals are compared by the use of timing of the reproduction of the first tracking signal for each track thereby producing a tracking control signal. The second tracking signal may have a frequency equal to that of the third tracking frequency.

摘要： A digital magnetic recording method, recording apparatus, reproducing apparatus, and recording/reproducing apparatus for recording and/or reproducing a current digital video signal and a high-definition (HD) digital video signal in a common track format on a recording tape using rotary heads. In recording, the current digital video signal is compressed to a specified amount of data, the HD digital video signal is compressed to n (n is an integer of 2 or larger) times the amount of data of the compressed current digital video signal, and when recording the current digital video signal, digital audio signals of m (m is an integer of 2 or larger) channels are multiplexed with the current digital video signal in time division, and the multiplexed signal is azimuth-recorded with k (k is an integer of 2 or larger) magnetic heads on k tracks in every one revolution of the rotary drum, and when recording digital audio signals of n.times.m channels are multiplexed with the HD digital video signal in time division, the transportation speed of the magnetic tape is made n times the tape transportation speed in recording the current digital video signal, and the multiplexed signal is recorded by azimuth recording with n.times.k magnetic heads on n.times.k tracks in every one revolution of said rotary drum.

In the apparatus the cylinder rotation speed follow-up control never comes out in making the high speed running of the tape rise, so that the relative speed between the head and tape is maintained to substantial constant.

摘要： By introducing a new copy control system into video signals subjected to picture quality restriction satisfactory only in small-sized PMP displays, a new business model in which copyrighters, consumers and makers can have mutual prosperity is created. “A new copy control rule of prohibiting a video signal output with a picture quality equivalent to that at time of recording from being copied, but permitting a video signal sufficiently degraded in picture quality as compared with time of recording to be copied” is added to the copy-never, copy-one-generation, and copy-free states belonging to the conventional copy control rule. The quality for which the copyrighter can permit copying corresponds to half the current number of DVD pixels. If a quality restricting scheme of thinning out pixels to half compared with time of recording is used, therefore, needs of consumers desiring to enjoy PMPs are satisfied while protecting rights of copyrighters.
