Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to implement features in the IEEE 802.11ad+/ay protocols by utilizing combinations of analog and digital precoding (such as hybrid mmWave precoding) to enable multi-stream/multi-user transmissions. These systems and methods are also suitable for 5G wireless networks, such as found in 3GPP. These systems and methods address performing general precoder design, reducing of beam-training overhead with leak wave antennas, performing single-stage approximate precoding with enhanced SLS for SU-MIMO transmissions (eSLS1), performing multi-stage approximate precoding with enhanced SLS for SU-MIMO transmissions (eSLS2), and performing exact precoding with enhanced SLS for SU-MIMO transmissions.

Abstract: An access point (AP) that supports the IEEE 802.11ba protocol may transmit a frame including a physical layer (PHY) preamble to one or more stations (STAs) over a channel. The PHY preamble may include a plurality of repeated modulated legacy signal (L-SIG) fields to spoof a recipient of the frame and protect a wake up signal (WUS) to be subsequently transmitted by the AP. The AP may transmit the WUS to at least a first STA of the one or more STAs, wherein the at least the first STA is a IEEE 802.11ba compliant STA.

Abstract: Methods, devices and systems are provided for performing for multi-user (MU) transmission. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may be configured to receive a frame, decode the received frame and determine whether the received frame is a null data packet (NDP) multi-user (MU) media access control (MAC) physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) (NDP MU MAC PPDU) based on meeting an NDP condition. The NDP MU MAC PPDU may correspond to an MU transmission and may include a PLCP header which includes an NDP signal (SIG) field having MU control information. Based on the received frame meeting the NDP condition, the WTRU may be further configured to process the NDP SIG field, generate a response based on the NDP SIG field and the MU control information, and transmit the response.

Abstract: Systems and methods for multidimensional beam refinement procedures and signaling for millimeter wave WLANs. In some embodiments, there are multi-dimensional enhanced beam refinement protocol MAC and PHY frame designs that extend the MAC packet and the PPDU format with or without backwards compatibility. The multiple dimensions may be supported jointly or separately. In other embodiments, the increased data signaled in the eBRP frame designs may be more efficiently signaled with reduced BRP frame sizes, such as through a training type dependent BRP minimum duration selection procedure or use of null data packet BRP frames. In further embodiments, the maximum duration of the interframe spacing between BPR packets may be varied to improve the efficiency of BRP operation.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for range extension, basic service set (BSS) color labeling, and multi-user (MU) fragmentation and control in WLANs. A range extension notification/enablement scheme, a clear channel assessment (CCA), a headroom indication, and/or power scaling may be provided for a range extension mode. BSS color may be provided for multiple-BSSs under an access point (AP). Uplink (UL) transmission may be provided with different fragmentation capabilities. A high-efficiency (HE) trigger-based UL NDP physical layer convergence protocol (PLCP) protocol data unit (PPDU) frame may be provided. A station (STA) may receive a trigger frame comprising a null data packet (NDP) indication and a trigger type. The STA may determine that the STA is an intended recipient of the trigger frame. The STA may prepare an NDP PPDU for a control frame and/or a management frame based on the trigger type.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for performing wake-up radio (WUR) are described herein. A receiving device may comprise a receiver configured to receive a first preamble using a first frequency range. The receiver may be configured to receive, using the first frequency range, a WUR packet after the first preamble, wherein a bandwidth associated with the first WUR packet is smaller than a bandwidth associated with the first preamble. The receiving device may be further configured to receive a second preamble and a second WUR packet, wherein the first preamble is frequency division multiplexed with the second preamble and the first WUR packet is frequency division multiplexed with the second WUR packet, and wherein a bandwidth associated with the second WUR packet is smaller than a bandwidth associated with the second preamble. The first WUR packet and the second WUR packet may have an equal duration of transmission.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for interference discovery for simultaneous transmission and reception are provided. In an embodiment, a station (STA) receives a STR request message from an access point (AP). The STA transmits a first STR response message to the AP based on the received STR request message. The STA receives a second STR response message transmitted from a second STA to the AP. The STA determines a received power of the received second STR response message. The STA receives a first trigger message from the AP. The first trigger message indicates a STA role field. The STA transmits interference information to the AP. The interference information is based on the determined received power. The STA role field comprises an indication of at least one or more of a primary STA and a secondary STA. The STA aggregates the interference report with a data transmission to the AP in response to the first trigger message.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are described herein for dynamic allocation of multiple channels and data streams for multi-channel transmission and multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO). For example, a station (STA) may receive an enhanced poll (EPoll) frame that includes a time offset, a channel offset and antenna/sector settings from an access point (AP). The STA may transmit, based on the received EPoll frame, an enhanced service period request (ESPR) frame that includes a MIMO control field and a multi-channel control field. The MIMO control field may indicate whether the STA supports MIMO transmission. The multi-channel control field may indicate whether the STA supports multi-channel transmission. Upon transmitting the ESPR frame, the STA may receive an enhanced grant frame from the AP. The enhanced grant frame may include an antenna configuration and a multi-channel allocation to enable the STA to perform the MIMO transmission and the multi-channel transmission.
