    Abstract: According to one embodiment, an active matrix display device includes a non-rectangular display portion in which a part of an outer edge is curved or bent, display pixels arrayed in a matrix in the display portion, gate lines connected for each row of the display pixels, signal lines connected for each column of the display pixels, a gate line driving circuit, a signal line driving circuit, and bus lines extending along a part of an edge of the display portion outside the display portion.     Abstract: A pixel electrode formed into a slit structure with striped electrodes opposed to each other for a zero rubbing angle can provide fast response since rotational directions of the liquid crystals become opposite at both sides of the slit in the striped electrodes. The electrode structure, however, poses a problem of low transmittance.Provided is a liquid crystal display device of IPS-Pro scheme including a pixel electrode with one pair of striped electrodes. The first striped electrode includes a short electrode section and long electrode sections, and the second striped electrode also includes a short electrode section and long electrode sections.     Abstract: In a three dimensional display device of a parallax barrier system in which an IPS-mode liquid crystal display panel is used as a liquid crystal display panel for displaying images and a TN-mode liquid crystal panel is used as a parallax barrier panel, alignment axes of a counter substrate and a barrier substrate constituting the parallax barrier panel are set to 45 degrees and 135 degrees, respectively, with respect to a horizontal direction of a screen. This allows an improvement in the viewing angle characteristics of the parallax barrier panel and an improvement in the viewing characteristics of the overall three dimensional display device of the parallax barrier system. Thus, even when the line of sight moves, crosstalk between an image for a right eye and an image for a left eye can be prevented thereby allowing a viewer to recognize excellent three dimensional images.
