摘要: A device for detecting remaining quantity of rolled papers has housing having a bottom for supporting a rolled paper. Optical detectors are provided for detecting a peripheral position of the rolled paper supported on the bottom when the peripheral position approaches an inner end of the paper and for generating an output signal. A positioning lever is provided for positioning the detectors at a position dependent on a radius of a core of the rolled paper. A control circuit responds to the output signal for informing that the rolled paper reaches the inner end.

摘要: An apparatus for measuring basal metabolism includes a device to input individual data, for example an age of a subject; a device to measure bioelectrical impedance of the subject; a device for calculation of fat-free mass on the basis of the individual data and the impedance;, and a device for calculation of basal metabolism of the subject on the basis of a reciprocal of the age and the fat-free mass. The basal metabolism can be calculated using the formula represented by BMR=A×FFM+B×(1/age)+C, in which BMR is basal metabolism (kcal/day), FFM is fat-free mass (kg), and A, B, and C are constants.

摘要: The invention relates to a method of making a decision on the monthly physiological condition of a female body, such as ovulation and PMS, an apparatus which makes such decision, and an apparatus which produces some data for such decision. To enable such decision to be made, the bioelectric impedance of the female body is determined periodically to provide a historical record of bioelectric impedance representing how it has been varying; and a required decision is made by comparing the present bioelectric impedance with the historical record of bioelectric impedance or the historical record of bioelectric impedance is displayed, representing how it has been varying.

摘要: At the time of casting a structural material for a casing, metal pipes to be used as passages to and from a tilt actuator of a swash plate are integrally embedded in a cast body of the structural material. In a casting stage of the structural material for the casing, metal pipes are set in position within a casting mold, and then molten metallic material is introduced into the mold. A main casing for a hydraulic motor is formed out of the cast structural material by finishing its inner and outer peripheral surfaces and outer ends of embedded metal pipes. The resulting casing has the metal pipe conduits embedded in its cylindrical body portion from its open end toward its bottom portion with cylinders for a tilt actuator, the embedded metal pipe conduits providing passages on the inner peripheral side for supplying and discharging tilt control hydraulic fluid to and from the tilt actuator.

摘要: An organic electroluminescent device comprises an anode, a positive-hole transport layer made of an organic compound, an emitting layer made of an organic compound, and a cathode which are layered in sequence, further comprising an electron-injecting layer containing at least one of alkaline earth metal oxides and disposed between the emitting layer and the cathode. This device emits light at a high luminance and a high efficiency upon application of a low voltage together with reduction of the decrement of luminance in the running of emitting light of the device. Selection scope for cathode materials is expanded because of the device is free from the restriction of a low work function for the cathode layer. The cathode can be made a transparent electrode such as ITO. Anode and cathode lines may be formed with low resistance material. As a result, emitting efficiency and life time of the device is improved.

摘要: An inertial body drive mechanism which is arranged to prevent a reversing motion of a hydraulic motor 1 after an inertial rotation and which is capable of stopping the hydraulic motor 1 quickly together with an inertial body. An oil chamber 26 of a reversing motion preventive valve 21 and an oil reservoir chamber 34 of an oil suction feeder 32 are communicated with each other through a tank conduit 27 with a throttle 38. Operating oil is supplied into and out of the oil chamber 26 by way of the oil reservoir chamber 34 of the oil suction feeder 32 in relation with displacement of a piston operating in response to oil pressure acting in a pilot chamber 33. When inertial rotation of the hydraulic motor 1 is once stopped, operating oil is supplied from the oil reservoir chamber 34 to the oil chamber 26 thereby sliding the reversing motion preventive valve 21 from a closed position (a) to an open position (b) to prevent reversing motions of the hydraulic motor 1.This application is a designated filing under 35 U.S.C. .sctn. 371 of PCT/JP93/00977 filed Jul. 14, 1993.

摘要: A telecommunication network which includes a SONET-based digital subscriber loop carrier system that supports wideband and narrowband services. The digital subscriber loop carrier system includes a common module for performing common functions of the system and for transferring subscriber data between the system and a central office or local digital switch, and at least one service definition module, which is coupled to subscribers, for interfacing the subscribers to the system. The common module and the service definition modules are coupled by a common backplane including pulse coded modulation buses and all data, including both subscriber data and control data, are transferred per the SONET protocol. Each of the common module and service definition modules employ buses, which are also based on the SONET protocol.
