摘要:
An optical fiber assembly which can be used without deterioration in the performance thereof even when it is used under a severe environmental condition wherein temperature frequently changes over a wide temperature range. The structure of an optical fiber assembly in accordance with the invention may be applied to an optical fiber connector plug and the like. The optical fiber connector plug is constituted by an optical fiber having an end with a protective sheath thereof removed, a ferrule of a support for fixing of the optical fiber, a thin-wall metal pipe which receives the protective sheath on the optical fiber and fixes it by crimping a plurality of places thereof, and a metal supporting sleeve with a flange which is provided as an integral part of the ferrule and which supports the thin-wall metal pipe. The optical fiber and the thin-wall metal pipe are fixed to the ferrule and the metal supporting sleeve, respectively, at the same time by gluing with thermosetting resin. The physical properties such as the hardness of the protective sheath of the optical fiber assembly change in a reversible manner between the upper and lower extremes of the environment wherein the optical fiber assembly is used; however, the problem of slipping out (pistoning) observed in a conventional optical fiber assembly is reliably prevented.

A hollow metal golf club having a structure in which the club head has a body portion and a neck portion for attachment of a golf club handle shaft. The club head is similar in shape and size to conventional wood club heads. A metal cylinder has a socket to receive a shaft. It is supported inside the neck portion and body portion. The handle shaft is mounted by inserting it in the socket of the cylinder and fastening it there by suitable means. The bottom of the hollow club head has an opening covered by a removable plate.

A semiconductor device is manufactured by covering a semiconductor substrate of a predetermined conductivity type with a polycrystal layer of a semiconductor material. Selected portions of the polycrystal layer are oxidized into an insulating material during heat treatment. Remaining portions of the polycrystal layer which are left unoxidized act as conductive portions. On manufacturing a bipolar transistor, ion implantation is carried out in a predetermined solid angle to introduce an impurity of an opposite conductivity selectively in a preselected one of the remaining portions. During the heat treatment, the impurity diffuses into the substrate only from the preselected portion to form a PN junction in the substrate. For fabricating an MOS transistor, an oxide film is preliminarily formed on the substrate selectively on an area on which a predetermined one of the remaining polycrystal layer portions is to be formed. Ion implantation is carried out to introduce an impurity of the opposite conductivity in the respective remaining layer portions. The oxide film prevents the impurity from diffusing to the substrate. The impurity diffuses into the substrate only from the respective remaining portions, except the predetermined portion.

A plurality of basic depth models indicate depth values of a plurality of basic scene structures. Statistical amounts of pixel values in predetermined areas in a non-3D image are calculated to generate first evaluation values. A statistical amount of pixel values in a whole of the non-3D image is calculated to generate a second evaluation value. The basic depth models are combined into a combination result according to a combination ratio depending on the generated first evaluation values. Depth estimation data is generated from the combination result and the non-3D image. A texture of the non-3D image is shifted in response to the generated depth estimation data and the generated second evaluation value to generate a different-viewpoint picture signal. The generated different-viewpoint picture signal and a picture signal representative of the non-3D image make a stereo pair representing a pseudo 3D image.

A pseudo 3D image generation device includes frame memories that store a plurality of basic depth models used for estimating depth data based on a non-3D image signal and generating a pseudo 3D image signal; a depth model combination unit that combines the plurality of basic depth models for generating a composite depth model based on a control signal indicating composite percentages for combining the plurality of basic depth models; an addition unit that generates depth estimation data from the non-3D image signal and the composite depth models; and a texture shift unit that shifts the texture of the non-3D image for generating the pseudo 3D image signal.

Basic depth models indicate depth values of a plurality of basic scene structures. Statistical amounts of pixel values in predetermined areas in a non-3D image are calculated to generate evaluation values. The basic depth models are combined into a combination result according to a combination ratio depending on the generated evaluation values. Calculation is made as to a skin-color intensity indicative of a degree of a skin color at each pixel of the non-3D image. Depth estimation data is generated from the combination result, the non-3D image, and the calculated skin-color intensity. A texture of the non-3D image is shifted in response to the generated depth estimation data to generate a different-viewpoint picture signal. The generated different-viewpoint picture signal and a picture signal representative of the non-3D image make a stereo pair representing a pseudo 3D image.

There is provided a holder for an optical fiber ferrule end face grinding apparatus that can make good use of a grinding film, in which the number of optical fiber ferrules held by the holder is greatly increased. The holder includes a holder plate including a plurality of insertion holes into which each of the ferrules is inserted. In the holder plate, the insertion holes are arranged in an area of a certain size extending from the center to the periphery thereof.
