摘要: An image converting apparatus for converting an image of an input video signal into an image with a metallic luster and representing the metallic luster with parameters designated corresponding to the input image. The apparatus is based on the concept that a model of reflected light can represented with a model of reflected light of diffusion reflection and mirror-surface reflection and that even though the resultant model of reflected light is three-dimensional data, assuming that the brightness of an input video signal linearly varies, the model can be represented with brightness data. A color correction circuit 5 has a look-up table with which calculations for generating an image with a metallic luster are performed with the brightness data and the designated parameters. A matrix calculating circuit extracts a luminous signal component from the input video signal. A pre-modifying circuit adjusts the amplitude. The color correction circuit performs calculations for generating an image with a metallic luster. Mix circuits mix output signals of the color correction circuit with an input video signal.

摘要: A brake shoe for an elevator safety device comprising a supporting body provided on a vertically moving body and having a front surface thereof facing a guide rail for being pressed toward the guide rail in the event of an emergency stop; the front surface having a plurality of bottomed holes provided therein; and a plurality of ceramic braking members disposed in the holes of the supporting body and each having a top portion thereof protruding from the front surface of the supporting body and each having an outer size smaller than a complementary size of each the hole. In the brake shoe, deformation, fusion, etc. on braking surfaces and breakage of the braking surfaces due to shocks during operation can be prevented, thereby achieving an improvement in safety and reliability. Further, an elevator speed can be increased and a device size can be reduced. Also, since the braking members have the outer sizes smaller than the complementary size of each of the holes, no compressive stress may normally be generated in the braking members.

摘要: An arrangement is provided for variably adjusting the effective flow area along a region within a water injection propulsion unit. The invention is adapted to be embodied in a small watercraft of the type that is designed to be operated by a single rider sitting in straddle fashion on the watercraft. The flow area adjustments may be made in response to the value of a selected operating variable, or several variables, which may be measured during the operation of the watercraft. The invention allows attainment of optimum accelerability at low to medium speeds, and optimum accelerability and top speed at high speeds.

摘要: A number of embodiments of exhaust systems for marine watercraft, particularly, those of the jet propelled type. The exhaust systems all include an exhaust pipe which terminates in a discharge opening formed in a lower surface of the hull for discharging exhaust gases through the body of water in which the watercraft is operating. In addition, the exhaust pipe has an ascending and descending section with an expansion chamber communicating with the upper portion thereof through an opening so as to accumulate water if the watercraft becomes inverted and to direct the accumulated water back to the exhaust outlet opening when righted so as to preclude water from flowing to the exhaust ports of the engine. The expansion chamber also acts as a silencing device and may comprise a portion of a Helmholtz resonator. Furthermore, a low speed exhaust gas discharge extends from the highest portion of the exhaust pipe to the tunnel in which the jet propulsion unit is contained above the water level therein so as to provide a low speed exhaust gas discharge for discharging exhaust gases when the watercraft is operating at idle or low speeds. Various embodiments show different numbers of Helmholtz resonators and arrangements wherein the low speed exhaust gas discharge communicates with at least one of the Helmholtz resonators.

摘要: An emergency brake apparatus for an elevator system is installed on an elevator cage or a balance weight of the elevator system and includes a grip member with slant surfaces and a pressing surface sandwiching a guide rail, a pressing member disposed movably between the slant surfaces of the grip member and the guide rail, and an electric solenoid connected to the pressing member and actuated by an electric signal. The electric solenoid positions the pressing member away from the guide rail in a non-braking operation while pushing the pressing member between the slant surfaces and the guide rail in a braking operation.

摘要: A light-emitting element emits a beam onto a droplet discharged from a nozzle from a direction opposite to a direction of discharge of the droplet. A light-receiving element receives a scattered light generated by scattering of the beam by the droplet. Finally, a failure detecting unit detects a liquid discharge failure from data of the scattered light received by the light-receiving element.
