摘要: A scheduling system and method for moving plural objects through a system described as a freight railway scheduling system. The scheduling system utilizes a cost reactive resource scheduler to minimize resource exception while at the same time minimizing the global costs associated with the solution. The achievable movement plan can be used to assist in the control of, or to automatically control, the movement of trains through the system. The estimation of the location of trains in track warranty locations where track sensor and GPS indications are not available is made based on the movement planners and the form-based movement authorities issued to each trains. Certain user interactions are interpreted as a specific train location.

摘要: A system is provided for reporting call data related to a telecommunications service. The system includes a network element, such as a service control point, that generates billing records. The network element populates a base module with standard data and also populates a local use module, appended to the base module, with call data required for reports associated with the telecommunication service. The system also includes a report generating system that receives the base record and appended local use module and generates reports based upon the call data stored in the base module and the appended local use module.

摘要: A massage device for massaging a body part of a person in an unsupervised and unattended setting. The massage device includes a garment, shaped to provide a snug fit and having a plurality of bladders arranged along the garment to massage the body part. An inflation assembly supplies fluid pressure to each of the bladders to inflate the respective bladders. The bladders may have approximately the same inflated volume thereby equalizing the inflation volume of the respective bladders whereby substantially even inflation timing, with substantially even applied pressure, and, thus, overall smooth massage dynamics may be provided without overly complicated inflation fluid control (e.g., an inflation assembly which supplies a substantially constant inflation capacity to each of the bladders). The garment may include a pocket having an opening communicating with the respective bladders and tubing from the inflation assembly extends into this pocket. The inflation assembly may provide throttled deflation flow, tapered inflation/deflation patterns, and/or a zone selector which allows a user to select a certain zone of the garment.

摘要: A mobile station (204) in a wireless local area network is associated with an access point (202), which controls timing of certain transmissions, such as beacons (402). The mobile station has a timer (108) that is driven by a high frequency clock source (110) while operating in an active mode, and a low frequency clock source (112) when in a low power mode, to conserve battery charge. To prevent timing errors from significantly affecting the accuracy for the timer (108) upon transitioning from one mode to the other, access point transmits timing information to the mobile station in the course of servicing requests from the mobile station. The timing information is included in a response sequence (300).

摘要: A method of forming a gate electrode (24′) for a metal-oxide-semiconductor (MOS) integrated circuit is disclosed. A hardmask layer (26), for example formed of silicon-rich nitride, is deposited over a polysilicon layer (24) from which the gate electrode (24′) is to be formed. An anti-reflective coating, or bottom anti-reflective coating or BARC, layer (29) is then formed over the hardmask layer (26), and photoresist (30) is photolithographically patterned to define the pattern of the gate electrode (24′), although to a wider, photolithographic, width (LW). The pattern is transferred from the photoresist (30) to the BARC layer (29). The remaining elements of the BARC layer (29) are then trimmed, preferably by a timed isotropic etch, to a sub-lithographic width (SW). This pattern is then transferred to the hardmask layer (26) by an anisotropic etch of that layer, using the trimmed BARC elements (29) as a mask. The hardmask layer elements (26′) then mask the etch of the underlying polysilicon layer (24), to define the gate electrodes (24′), having gate widths that are narrower than the minimum dimension available through photolithography.

摘要: A packet filtering operation implements a hierarchical technique. Received packet traffic is first filtered with a first filtering criteria. This first filtering action generates a first pass traffic portion and a fail traffic portion from the received packet traffic. The fail traffic portion is then second filtered with a second filtering criteria. This second filtering action generates a second pass traffic portion and a reject traffic portion. The first filtering criteria provide for higher throughput, lower accuracy processing while the second filtering criteria provide for lower throughput, higher accuracy processing. Dynamic adjustments may be made to the first and second filtering criteria to achieve better overall packet filtering performance. For example, load is measured and the filtering criteria adjusted to better balance load between the hierarchical filtering actions.

摘要: A magnetostrictive actuator comprises a rod of giant magnetostrictive material, biasing permanent magnets arranged at each end thereof and coaxially therewith so as to pass a magnetic field through the rod. An energizing electromagnetic coil is connected to an energizer so as to superimpose on the magnetic field passing through the rod an alternating magnetic field to cause variation in the length of the rod in response thereto. The permanent magnets are each in the form of a disc having a cross-sectional area substantially greater than that of the rod and are spaced from the ends of the rods by material of low magnetic permeability. The magnetic field in the rod is thereby substantially linear along the length thereof.
