    摘要: A near-optimal resource allocation method is provided for a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) relay scheme in which the source and relay nodes have only partial channel state information (CSI), obtained through finite rate feedback, and the powers of the source and relay nodes are constrained. Power on/off beamforming is employed at the source and relay nodes in which the receiving node feeds back the index of a beamforming matrix selected in accordance with the channel state. Using channel statistical information, the exemplary method allocates time between the first stage and the second stage of the relay transmission, and power between the source and the relay node. With only limited CSI feedback, the resource allocation method enjoys a considerable performance advantage over arrangements with no feedback.

The redirection system detects a triggering event at a host system and in response to the triggering event continuously redirects data items from the host system to a wireless network. The mobile data communication device receives data items from the wireless network and executes a plurality of device operations. The remote control system receives control information from a user interface and transmits the control information through the redirection system to the wireless network. The control information is received and executed by the mobile data communication device to remotely control one or more of the device operations. Methods of controlling the operation of mobile data communication devices are also disclosed.

    摘要: A wireless telephony communications system includes at least one macro cell for communicating both voice and data with a mobile communications device across a first wireless link and at least one micro cell for communicating data with the mobile communications device across a second wireless communication link. Each micro cell communicates signaling information through the macro cell via a wireless link to a control element that manages the micro cells. Using a wireless link to communicate signaling between each micro cell and the control element in the UMTS system eliminates the need for a wired back haul link, thereby reducing access costs.

    摘要: Methods and apparatus for FEC frame header detection are provided, suitable for use in a DVB-C2 receiver. A first method comprises demodulating with a quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK) demapper, followed by correlation and symmetry measures for detection of a robust FEC header. A second method comprises demodulating with a 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) demapper, followed by correlation and symmetry measures for detection of a high efficiency FEC leader. Another embodiment comprises using both the first and second methods to find the FEC header because the first symbol of the FEC frame header may be sent either in robust mode or in high efficiency mode. There is also provided a method and apparatus for generating an alternate decision statistic for determining detection of the FEC frame header.

    摘要: A bypass server is placed in an outgoing link between a mobile device server and a relay used to distribute data from the mobile device server to remote mobile devices to which the data is addressed. Where a direct connection is established between a suitably configured network node (such as a personal computer) and a given mobile device, the bypass server may form a local connection with the network node and divert along the local connection those packets that are addressed to the given mobile device. As such, a lower cost/higher bandwidth local communication path between the given mobile device and the mobile device server may be established, when compared to the conventional remote communication path. The local communication path may be especially useful for bulk data transfers.

A phase ambiguity angle is computed upon detecting a last sync symbol of a sync symbol block in the data stream. A cycle slip corrector initiates cycle slip correction upon determining the computed phase ambiguity angle is different from a previous computed phase ambiguity angle to generate a corrected data stream. The corrected data stream is provided to a feedback carrier recovery circuit.
