摘要: The battery pack is constituted by arranging a plurality of prismatic battery modules adjacently in a condition with coolant passages formed between battery modules and with their side faces of large area being arranged in superimposed manner, and are integrated by tying end plates, arranged at both ends in the direction of arrangement of battery modules tightly together by restraining straps. A plurality of restraining straps are arranged at suitable intervals on the long side face of a battery pack and the restraining straps are constituted of at least one strip of rectangular cross-sectional shape or by round rods or pipe members of circular cross-sectional shape whose dimension in the direction perpendicular to the long side face of battery pack is larger than the dimension in the parallel direction.

摘要: A battery pack to be mounted in a vehicle incorporates a battery stack and a cooling fan. An air intake is formed in a side face located in the vicinity of the cooling fan. In consideration of passengers entering and exiting the vehicle, the air intake is formed as well in a plane generated as a result of removal of a corner. A louver for preventing intrusion of extraneous matter is disposed at the front of the air intake. A decrease in the amount of cooling air induced by the louver is lessened by means of forming the air intake in the plane.

摘要: The combined battery of the present invention includes two end plates and a plurality of general cells stacked adjacent each other and bound by two end plates. The general cells are provided with a battery container made of resin, and bound by two end plates with a binding force equal to or lower than a threshold value determined based on the number and the compressibility of the cells and the stiffness of the battery container, in such a manner that no more than a predetermined amount of irreversible deformation will be caused in the battery container.

摘要: A battery cell includes a battery housing case formed with a through hole communicating with an interior space, a hollow rivet, and a seal rubber. The hollow rivet has a seal surface annularly extending outside the battery housing case, and a hollow portion formed with an exhaust port continuous to the inner edge of the seal surface and positioned at the through hole to allow gas in the interior space to flow out through the exhaust port. The seal rubber has a contact unit extending annularly facing the seal surface to press the seal surface and is provided so as to close the exhaust port. The contact unit is formed to project toward the seal surface so as to contact the seal surface at a position away from the inner edge of the seal surface. Such an arrangement prevents an electrolyte leakage over a long period of time.

摘要: In a power source device including a battery pack, a safety switch is provided between a given pair of battery modules connected to each other. The safety switch connects and disconnects those battery modules by insertion and removal of a safety plug to/form a switch body. The power source device also includes an insertion prevention unit, such as a lock, for preventing the insertion of the safety plug to the switch body in such a manner that prevention of the insertion of the safety plug is releasable. A release operation unit is kept by a worker who removes the safety plug, so that safety of the worker against electric shock is ensured.

摘要: In a battery pack where a fan is housed within a case housing a battery stack, the noise generated from turbulence of a medium that is supplied and exhausted between a fan opening of the fan and the battery stack is reduced. The battery pack has a battery stack, a cooling fan installed adjacent to the battery stack and having a fan opening formed in a top surface for taking in cooling air after cooling the battery stack, an upper case for covering the upper part of the battery stack and the cooling fan, and a junction duct for guiding the cooling air after cooling the battery stack to the fan opening. The junction duct is formed from the duct lower unit having an opening formed at a location facing the fan opening and one wall of the upper case in contact with a lower end and periphery of the duct lower unit.
