Abstract: The invention refers to a method and an apparatus (20) for manufacturing of a prismatic unilaterally open battery cell container (21). First an extruded container (41) is formed from a slug (38) by extrusion. The slug (38) consists of a uniform material. The extruded container (41) is then formed by a first ironing in a first ironing station (25) and by a second ironing in a second ironing station (28). During ironing the container is moved by a respective ironing ram (26, 29) only partly through an associated die tool (27, 30) and is reversed when reaching a reversal point (U). After the second ironing a remaining edge (82) of the obtained intermediate container (77) is separated, thereby the battery cell container (21) is obtained.

Abstract: A battery cell housing includes a housing shell and a housing cover. A bearing surface and a first connecting surface separate thereto are present on the housing shell (16) on at least two mutually facing side walls or on all side. A contact surface on the housing cover is associated with each bearing surface and a second connecting surface on the housing cover is associated with the first connecting surface. The relative position of the second connecting surface and of the contact surface is adapted to the relative position of the bearing surface and of the first connecting surface. The contact surface and the second connecting surface can thus be spaced apart in the vertical direction (H) and/or the second connecting surface is present on an edge side strip extending downwards in the vertical direction (H) to a bottom of the housing shell.

Abstract: Lithium ion batteries and cells, as well as operating and testing methods are provided, which utilize a transparent pouch to monitor the battery in operational condition and/or in operation. Covers may be used to prevent illumination of battery components when testing is not required, and the covers may be removed or have modifiable transparency configured to enable visual monitoring. Indicators in the transparent pouch may be associated with cell components such as electrodes and electrolyte to indicate their condition. For example, the transparent pouch may be used to monitor battery safety, e.g., by enabling to monitor lithium metallization on an anode (directly or via indicators), monitor battery lifetime and other operational parameters, without having to damage the battery.

The polymer composition comprises a polyarylene sulfide, a thermally conductive particulate material, an inorganic particulate material, and a fibrous filler. The polymer composition exhibits a Charpy notched impact strength of about 3 kJ/m2 or more as measured at a temperature of 23° C. according to ISO Test No. 179-1:2010 and an in-plane thermal conductivity of about 0.7 W/m-K or more as determined in accordance with ASTM E 1461-13.
