Abstract:
The present invention relates to the use of axonal transport to deliver a baculovirus vector to a target neuronal cell by administering the vector to a site that is remote from the target cell. Such delivery allows for tracing of neuronal pathways and further a baculovirus vector may be used to deliver therapeutic gene to a target neuronal which may otherwise be not readily accessible, for the treatment of a neuronal disorder in a subject.
Abstract:
The present invention is related to controlling delay in a wireless communication system. The present invention includes receiving a signal from a plurality of base stations, measuring at least one signal delay of each of the plurality of base stations, reporting the measured at least one signal delay of each base station to a controller controlling the plurality of base stations, and receiving an adjusted signal from each of the plurality of base stations as a result of reporting the measured at least one signal delay, wherein each adjusted signal is received in a synchronous manner.
Abstract:
The invention provides for methods for delivering a nucleic acid into a peripheral neuron by identifying a target neuron in a dorsal root ganglion and intrathecally delivering a vector comprising the nucleic acid to the dorsal root ganglion neuron. The nucleic acid may encode a neurotrophic factor that may be used to treat a peripheral neuropathy or, in conjunction with a nerve guide conduit, to treat a transected peripheral nerve.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a chimeric promoter construct useful for neuronal cell specific gene expression. The invention provides a recombinant nucleic acid molecule that comprises a neuronal cell specific promoter such as platelet-derived growth factor β-chain promoter, operably linked to a heterologous enhancer which enhances the transcriptional activity of the promoter, such as cytomegalovirus immediate early gene enhancer. The promoter construct according to the invention can increase and prolong gene expression in neuronal cells and may be advantageously used in gene therapy of neuronal disorders.
Abstract:
A multi-frequency antenna includes a first antenna (1) and a second antenna (2) both operating at wireless wide area network, a third antenna (3) and a fourth antenna (4) both operating at wireless local area network. The first antenna, the second antenna, the third antenna and the fourth antenna are integrally made from a metal sheet and have a common grounding portion (50). The first and the second antennas have a first connecting portion (12) on which a feeding point (120) is located, and the third and the fourth antenna have a second connecting portion (34) on which another feeding point (340) is located.
Abstract:
Provided is a poly(amino ester) having a polymer backbone comprising at least one secondary amine linkage and at least one tertiary amine linkage in the polymer backbone. Poly(amino ester)s are prepared via the Michael addition of a bis(acrylate ester)monomer to a diamine monomer, wherein the diamine monomer has one primary amino group and one secondary amino group, and can be end-capped by reaction with a suitable reagent. The inventive poly(amino ester)s may be used as vectors for delivery of a bioactive agent, such as DNA, to a cell.
Abstract:
A method of identifying a space-time encoded signal in a wireless communication system having at least two different decoder types is disclosed. The method includes receiving at least one pilot signal from a transmitting end, wherein the pilot signal is represented by either Type 0 or Type 1, determining which of Type 0 or Type 1 is represented in the received pilot signal, and activating the space-time decoder for performing space-time decoding, if the pilot signal is Type 1.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting at least one packet in a wireless mobile communication system is disclosed. More specifically, the method includes transmitting at least one pilot symbol, at least one data symbol, and at least one null symbol, wherein the at least one null symbol is transmitted between transmission of the pilot symbol and the data symbol.
Abstract:
A method of mitigating interference in a multiple access interference wireless communication system is disclosed. More specifically, the method comprises receiving at least one signal from at least one transmitting end, constructing a group of first signal signatures based on a predetermined number of received signals and at least one second signal signature, estimating a set of values using the constructed group of first signal signatures, and detecting desired information using the detected set of values.
Abstract:
A system for non-contact measurement of thickness of a test object. A laser beam is split into two identical directly opposed input beams. A calibration object of known thickness causes beams to be reflected from sides of the test object. Each reflected beam passes through sensing means including a pinhole aperture and a photodiode sensor. Maximum sensor output defines first and second focal points a known distance apart. The calibration object is removed, and the test object is inserted into the path of the input beams, creating focus position intensity curves for the reflected beams. By determining the deviation, at maximum photodiode output, of the positions of the test object reflecting surfaces from the positions of the calibration object surfaces, the test object thickness can be readily and accurately determined.
