摘要： Disclosed is a system and method for allocating and indicating a ranging region in which a base station (BS) allocates and indicates a ranging region in a broadband wireless access (BWA) communication system. The method includes: ranging region allocation and change indication information in a first region of every downlink frame; determining whether to include information necessary for performing ranging in a broadcast message that is broadcast through a second region of every downlink frame according to the ranging region allocation and change indication information; and allocating a ranging region in an uplink frame according to the ranging region allocation and change indication information.

摘要： A method for allocating a channel quality information channel (CQICH) in a communication system is disclosed. After fast switching from a serving anchor base station (BS) to a target anchor BS, a mobile station (MS) detects absence of a CQICH allocated from the target anchor BS. Upon detecting the absence of the allocated CQICH, the MS sends a request for allocating the CQICH to the target anchor BS. Upon receiving the CQICH allocation request, the target anchor BS detects a need to allocate a CQICH to the MS.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for recognizing by a Mobile Subscriber Station (MSS) whether a serving Base Station (BS) retains connection information in a mobile communication system including the serving BS for providing a service to the MSS and a target BS adjacent to the serving BS. The method includes the steps of receiving a handover request message from the serving BS, the handover request message including a resource remain type field representing whether the connection information having been set with the serving BS is retained, and a resource retain time field representing a connection information-retaining time by the serving BS, and recognizing that the serving BS retains the connection information during a time determined by a value of the resource retain time field.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for enabling a subscriber station to shift from a sleep mode to an awake mode in a broadband wireless access communication system including the sleep mode in which there exists no data to be transmitted between the subscriber station and a base station, and the awake mode in which there exists data to be exchanged between the subscriber station and the base station. The method includes measuring a Carrier-to-Interference and Noise Ratio(CINR) with respect to the base station in a time interval for monitoring a received signal during the sleep mode; and shifting from the sleep mode to the awake mode when the measured signal-to-noise ratio is less than a first threshold value set in advance.

摘要： Provided is a method supporting a Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request (HARQ) between a subscriber station and a base station in a broadband wireless access communication system. The method includes transmitting at least one HARQ enabled uplink burst from the subscriber station to the base station; generating ACKnowledgment/Negative ACKnowledgment (ACK/NACK) information according to the received HARQ enabled uplink burst at the base station; mapping the generated ACK/NACK information to a bitmap at the base station; and transmitting the bitmap through a downlink information from the base station to the subscriber station.
