摘要： A disk-shaped recording medium recording/reproducing method for performing a data recording operation and a data reproducing operation to the disk-shaped recording medium alternately includes identifying whether a recording area at an ending point of an n-th recording operation on the disk-shaped recording medium, where n is a natural number, is continuous to a recording area at a starting point of (n+1) recording operation. In response to an identifying result indicative of discontinuation of the recording area in the identifying step, the rotational speed of the disk-shaped recording medium is changed to a rotational speed at the starting point of the (n+1)th recording operation, during a reproducing operation between the n-th recording operation and the (n+1)th recording operation.

摘要： A reproduction method and apparatus for reproducing video data and/or audio data from a recordable medium having video data and/or audio data recorded thereon. The video data and/or audio data is generated by superimposing information concerning an attribute of a video signal and/or an audio signal on a signal of digitized video data and/or a signal of digitized audio data. Information concerning a copyright superimposed on the video data and/or audio data is reproduced from the medium, and a type of the medium is identified. Reproduction is stopped in response to a determination that the medium is illegally produced, the determination being based on a combination of the information concerning a copyright which is reproduced and the type of the medium identified.

摘要： In an apparatus for recording and reproducing a burst-like digital information signal, a method capable of predicting the time of occurrence of a header indicating the head of the first data of a digital information signal during its reproduction from a recording medium. The digital signal includes a plurality of data blocks each including a header indicative of the head of the block, and each header includes the address of the block. During recording of the digital signal on the recording medium, a plurality of headers which are substantially the same as the headers of the data blocks and including addresses having given relations with the addresses of the data blocks are inserted in a clock regenerating signal recorded before the digital signal for regenerating the clocks for the signal. The headers are inserted at a period equal to the length of each data block so as to be synchronized with the headers of the data blocks.

摘要： A digital signal recording apparatus is disclosed, which is capable of protecting the copyright of the analog input information encoded into a first digital signal in a recording medium. A second digital signal encrypted based on the key information and the input analog signal encrypted based on the key information are converted into a second digital signal and encrypted, and the resulting signal is selectively recorded in a recording medium. The digital signal recording apparatus further comprises a circuit for encrypting the digital signal converted from the input analog signal with a key obtained by a predetermined calculation of the key information according to a scheme similar to the second digital signal protection scheme through a digital interface, and a signal recording circuit for recording the key information and the encrypted digital signal in a recording medium.

摘要： An optical disk reproducing apparatus for reproducing digital signals in the form of a data frame including a lead-in block and data blocks from an optical disk including at least first and second recording surfaces each being readable from a same side of the optical disk. The data blocks include block addresses and data, and are recorded on the first and second recording surfaces. The lead-in block is recorded at a head of the data frame and includes disk information relating to a number of data blocks recorded on the first and second recording surfaces. The apparatus includes an optical pickup, a focus control circuit, a pickup movement control circuit, a disk information detection circuit which detects disk information included in a reproduced lead-in block, a block address detection circuit which detects block addresses included in reproduced data blocks, and an access/reproduction control circuit which controls the focus control circuit and the pickup movement control circuit to access the first and second recording surfaces and reproduce data blocks recorded thereon. The access/reproduction control circuit controls the focus control circuit to perform focus changing of the optical pickup to access the first and second recording surfaces in accordance with block addresses of data blocks to be reproduced and the detected disk information.

摘要： A disk cartridge and a disk device for receiving the disk cartridge to enable recording and/or reproducing of information from or on a disk housed within the disk cartridge. The disk cartridge includes a disk in which information is recorded and/or reproduced, a case for housing the disk which case has opposite faces including a window in a respective face for exposing a part of the disk therethrough. A shutter is mounted with respect to the case so as to open or close a window of a respective face of the case with the shutter being movable in opposite directions with respect to the window from a position in which the window is closed to a position in which the window is open. The disk cartridge may include an openable part of the case for enabling the disk to be taken in and out of the case through the openable part thereof and a discrimination arrangement for enabling discrimination of different types of disk cartridges from one another. The disk cartridge may be arranged to enable exchange of disks of a same or different format including CD (compact disk), DVD (digital video disk) and PD (phase change disk) and the discrimination arrangement enables prevention of a disk cartridge of one different type from being erroneously inserted into a disk device receiving apparatus which is not compatible for the different type of disk cartridge.
