摘要: An optical transceiver and a method to setup the optical transceiver are disclosed, where the transceiver has a function to compensate the distortion and the dispersion due to the limited bandwidth of the electrical signal line, that of the active devices, and that of the optical fiber. The optical transceiver comprises a transmitter with an equalizer unit and a receiver also with an equalizer unit. The equalizer unit in the transmitter compensates the distortion due to the limited bandwidth of the transmission lines for the electrical signal and that of the semiconductor active device, while, the equalizer unit in the receiver compensates the dispersion due to the limited bandwidth of the optical fiber.

摘要: A data processor which can flexibly control bandwidth settings and setting changes is provided. The data processor controls bandwidth allocation to electronic devices participating in a communication network. The data processor has a communication section used to communicate with the electronic devices and a bandwidth management section which performs control to variably allocate, based on requests from the electronic devices, bandwidths to be used for communication by the electronic devices. In cases where an additional device is added to the communication network and an adequate bandwidth cannot be allocated to the additional device, the bandwidth management section requests another electronic device transmitting video data of a resolution higher than corresponding to the user's intention to change its data format so as to allow an adequate bandwidth to be allocated to the additional device.

摘要: An optical receiver is disclosed in which the error rate for the received data may be effectively reduced even for the non-linear optical transmission system that provides a directly modulate laser diode as the optical transmitter and the single mode fiber inevitably accompanying with the dispersion as the transmission medium. The optical receiver includes a photodiode (PD), a low-pass filter (LPF) and a maximum likelihood sequence estimator (MLSE) carrying out the Viterbi algorithm. The LPF in front of the MLSE effectively suppresses the ringing appeared in the received signal to generate a replica data with good reproducibility.

摘要: To provide a mechanism for preventing information leakage by erasing stored information if a preset condition is not satisfied, because if an external storage device in which the information is stored is stolen or lost the risk of information leakage through decryption still remains even in the case where the information is encrypted. An external storage device has a locking management function capable of setting available conditions for stored information and controlling permission/prohibition of user access depending on whether the conditions are satisfied. User access is permitted if the available conditions are satisfied. The stored information is erased if the available conditions are not satisfied.

摘要: The service provider stores a program to use a service and license information in a memory card including an IC card chip, a flash memory, and an interface controller. According to the license information, the user can select a specification of a server PC on the service provider side and uses a server PC, which is maintained by the service provider, by use of the memory card through remote operation. Also, when the user reports the loss of the memory card to the service provider, a managing server on the service provider side sends a card function inactivation command to the memory card to prevent its false use.

摘要: A radio-frequency amplifier comprises slot lines formed in a top electrode which are bent to define matching segments that are perpendicular to transmitting segments. The matching segments have a length corresponding to one-quarter of the wavelength of a signal to be amplified and are at least partially perpendicular to the transmitting segments. A DC-cut circuit comprising slot lines is connected to the matching segments, an FET is connected to the transmitting segments and the matching segments, and respective matching circuits serve as an input unit and an output unit of the FET. Source terminals of the FET are connected to parts of a top electrode that do not lie between the segments. A drain terminal and a gate terminal are connected, to be electrically separated from each other, to parts of the top electrode, which are electrically separated from the source terminals by the DC-cut circuit, the transmitting segments, and the matching segments.
