摘要: By activating aluminum fine particles obtained by milling aluminum alloy in water, reactivity of the aluminum fine Particles at low temperature is improved. The activation comprises a thermal shock treatment wherein the aluminum fine particles are repeatedly heated and cooled down rapidly, and subsequently these activated aluminum fine particles are stored in a refrigerator. By reaction between the activated aluminum fine particles and water molecules, a large amount of hydrogen gas can be generated at room temperature, therefore hydrogen gas or fuel for a portable-type fuel cells can be produced in large quantities at room temperature in a short period of time.

摘要: Transports cards to an image forming portion, and turns cards over after forming images on one side of cards at the image forming portion. Transports an intermediate transfer sheet to an image forming portion, forms images on the intermediate transfer sheet at the image forming portion and transports cards to the transfer portion along with transporting the intermediate transfer sheet to the transfer portion, and transfers images formed on the intermediate transfer sheet at the image forming portion to the other side of cards at the transfer portion. Switching between a direct transfer method and an indirect transfer method makes either transfer method applicable thereby improving printer user convenience, enables the forming of images to a recording medium using the optimum image forming method and reduces running costs. After direct transfer, indirect transfer is consecutively executed without discharging the card from the image forming apparatus thereby protecting the security of personal information and ensuring the security of personal information even when discharging cards printed on one side is unavoidable from the image forming apparatus when printing to both sides is incomplete.

摘要: The image forming apparatus includes, even when an abnormality of operation occurs in any of a plurality of modules to which an assigned operation in a plurality of operations for an image formation is assigned and which autonomously executes the assigned operation, each of the modules can autonomously perform a particular operation for eliminating an abnormality of operation at a module in which an abnormality occurs. When detecting the module in which the abnormality of operation occurs based on operation abnormality generation condition information in each of the modules stored in the shared data module, the plurality of modules provided in the image forming apparatus each perform an operation (a particular operation) for eliminating the abnormality of operation in accordance with the module in which the abnormality of operation occurs and the contents of the abnormality of operation. Of the plurality of modules, a module which finally performs the particular operation notifies the occurrence of abnormality of operation to a controller module.

摘要: A surface inspection device irradiates a laser beam onto the surface of a sample, scans the surface two-dimensionally, and detects the intensities of the s-polarized light component and p-polarized light component of the reflected laser beam. RR (reflectance ratio), which is the ratio of the reflective intensities of the s- and p-polarized light components, is calculated for each position of the surface of the sample, and the two-dimensional distribution of RR on the surface of the sample is detected. The distribution width of this measured RR is compared with the natural width for a clean sample, and the surface of the sample is determined to be contaminated when, as the result of comparison, the RR distribution width diverges from the natural width. The absence or presence of contamination on the microscopically rough surface of a sample can therefore be quickly and easily determined based on the RR of the reflective intensities of the s- and p-polarized light components.

摘要: The invention intends to provides an optical waveguide device having a structure that satisfies the low drive voltage characteristic and the low propagation loss characteristic at the same time. The optical waveguide device contains a conductive or semiconductive lower electrode, an epitaxial or single orientational buffer layer provided on the lower electrode, an epitaxial or single orientational optical waveguide provided on the buffer layer, and an upper electrode of a conductive thin film or a semiconductive thin film, provided on the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide device is able to modulate, switch, or deflect incident light beams guided into the optical waveguide by applying a voltage between the upper electrode and the lower electrode.

摘要: The present invention provides a sheet conveying apparatus, and an image reading apparatus and an image forming apparatus having such a sheet conveying apparatus, in which skew correction of a sheet can be effected with high accuracy. A sheet convey means is provided at an upstream side of a skew correction means for correcting skew-feed of a sheet, and the sheet convey means is shifted by a shift means in a direction substantially perpendicular to the sheet conveying direction. A control means drives the shift means to shift the sheet convey means pinching the sheet to be skew-corrected by the skew correction means by a distance corresponding to a sheet skew amount on the basis of sheet skew amount information from a sheet skew amount detection means for detecting a skew amount of the sheet, thereby shifting the sheet in a skew correction direction.

摘要: An analysis method by which a surface impurity in a very small region can be specified, wherein an electron beam is accelerated with an acceleration voltage and irradiated upon a very small region of a specimen and a mass spectrometry of neutral surface impurity molecules desorbed from the very small region is performed. The acceleration voltage for accelerating the electron beam is set to a voltage with which desorption of the neutral surface impurity molecules by an electron stimulated desorption (ESD) effect occurs.
