    摘要: An image reading apparatus such as a color copying apparatus has a plurality of sensing CCD chips for converting an image of an object into an electrical signal, each sensing CCD chip having a plurality of sensing elements. The apparatus also has a circuit for converting the electrical signal into digital data. A first adjusting circuit is provided for conducting either an operation for obtaining level matching of the electrical signal converted by the sensing chips, or an operation for controlling the gain of the electrical signal converted by the sensing chips. The apparatus further has a second adjusting circuit for effecting compensation for fluctuation of characteristics of the sensing elements of the sensing chips, by making use of the digital data converted by the converting circuit, the second adjusting circuit being adapted for effecting the compensation on the basis of electrical signals which are produced as a result of conversion by the sensing chips from two objects having different levels of density from each other, such as white and black levels. An analog-to-digital converter may also be provided to convert analog data into digital data. In that case, first adjusting means will adjust the analog data discretely, through a step smaller than the quantizing step used in the A/D conversion, and a second adjusting means may preferably further adjust the analog data in accordance with digital data obtained through the A/D conversion.

    摘要: An image processing apparatus in which a color identifier identifies the color of an input image based on an input color-image signal. A luminance detector detects luminance information in the input color-image signal. An image generator generates a predetermined pattern which is indicative of the color identified by the color identifier. A measurement device measures the luminance distribution of the detected luminance signal which is outside an area in which color is identified by the color identifier. The output density of the input color-image signal is set in accordance with the measured luminance distribution, and an output monochromatic image is produced in which colors of the input image are identified by the predetermined patterns.

    摘要: A color image reading apparatus includes a plurality of linear sensors, each capable of generating plural analog color component signals. The sensors are arranged to read a line of the color image in a divided manner and such that adjacent ones of the linear sensors read mutually different lines of the color image. Also provided is a separator for separating the plural analog color component signals generated by the sensors into analog color component signals of each color, and a converter for converting the analog color component signals of each color into digital color component signals of each color, respectively. The apparatus further includes a device for forming plural continuous digital color component signals representing a line of the color image from the digital color component signals of each color converted by the converter. In addition, a processor is provided for digital color processing of the plural continuous digital color component signals to form digital color image signals usable for reproduction of the color image.

    摘要: An original reader has first and second arrays of line sensor chips having reading positions shifted from each other, a moving mechanism for moving the line sensors and an original relative to each other in accordance with a selected magnification of the original, CCD registers for delaying outputs from the first array of line sensor chips to match them with those from the second array of line sensor chips, and an analog switch for controlling the shifting operation of the registers. The reader can read an original image and reproduce the read image without adverse effect of an error between the reading positions of the sensors.
