Disclosed is a method for reporting channel state information between a mobile station and a base station to the base station by the mobile station in a mobile communication system. The method includes the steps of mapping the channel state information to a value stored in a channel state information table. The mapping is determined by a range of traffic-to-pilot ratio (TPR) values. The TPR values are determined according to an encoder packet site packet data rate relation. The mapping is then transmitted to the base station.

An apparatus and method for transmitting and receiving packet data in a mobile communication system supporting Hybrid Automatic Repeat reQuest (HARQ), e.g., a method and apparatus for performing HARQ retransmission on a packet received through persistent resources where no HARQ process identifier is transmitted. HARQ soft combining is performed by providing a mapping relation between a packet received through persistent resources and a retransmitted HARQ packet. In addition, when there are several HARQ packets received through persistent resources at an arbitrary timing, which packet an arbitrary retransmission packet should be combined is determined, thereby enabling the corresponding processor to perform correct soft combining. This improves HARQ performance of persistent resources without increasing complexity of the reception apparatus.

A method is provided for transmitting a downlink shared control channel including a control signal necessary for restoring a transmission data signal in a mobile communication system that transmits a data signal using multiple antennas. It is determined whether the transmission data signal is coded with two or more codewords before being transmitted. One of a first element index of a sub-codebook configured only with a one codeword-dedicated precoding in a precoding codebook and a second element index of a sub-codebook configured only with a more-than-two codeword- dedicated precoding is selected, according to the determination result. A control channel is generated by including the selected element index in the precoding information. The generated control channel is mapped to a particular resource block and the mapped control channel is transmitted to a particular reception apparatus.

A method and system are provided for transmitting data in a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication system. A receiver sets the number of sub-streams of each column of a preceding matrix with respect to all precoding matrices of channels formed between the receiver and a transmitter and measures channel states with respect to sub-stream combinations whose number is equivalent to the number of set sub-streams. The receiver transmits data according to channel states to the transmitter after measuring the channel states with respect to the sub-stream combinations and antenna combinations representing sub-streams used upon data transmission of all the precoding matrices.

A Node B sends combining information to the UE, and combinable cells use the same radio resources and the same scrambling sequence in data transmission to the UE. Also, the UE combines channel estimates calculated using pilot signals received form the cells and compensates the combined data signal using the combined channel estimate.

A multiplexing scheme differs according to a channel when a transmitter transmits a packet data channel, a common control channel and a control channel designated for a particular user. Uncoded 1-bit information is broadly dispersed in frequency and time domains using multiplexing technology for maximizing diversity gain in a channel for transmitting information of at least one bit to a particular user like an acknowledgement (ACK) channel. The transmitter converts a sequence obtained by multiplexing multiple bits to be transmitted to a plurality of users to parallel signals, and broadly disperses the parallel signals in the time and frequency domains. When the uncoded 1-bit information is transmitted, reception reliability is improved because channel coding and transmission are efficiently performed using a small amount of resources.
