Abstract:
A Method and apparatus to accurately measure and display various properties of hydrocarbons and petroleum factions for a small volume of sample in a short period of time in one test with less cost and energy for the analysis by the method of light refection. The refraction of light through the sample is measured and compared to the refraction f the light through vacuum by the apparatus. The method of the invention comprises a property estimation from the apparatus to output a property estimate value. The property estimation means is equipped with a property estimation model for evaluating the property estimate value outputted from the property estimation model. The method is incorporated into standard or otherwise any refractive index test apparatus or refractometer to provide accurate measure of the thermodynamic and transport properties of pure hydrocarbons and undefined multicomponent mixtures such as petroleum factions.
Abstract:
The enhydrazone esters for treating asthma, allergy, and inflammation relate to the use of two cyclohexenone derivatives and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof in the treatment of asthma, allergies, and inflammation. The esters have the formula: wherein R is ethyl or methyl. Administration of the esters inhibits the degranulation of eosinophils, the degranulation of mast cells, and the release or expression of tumor necrosis factor-α, thereby alleviating the debilitating symptoms of asthma, allergic reactions, and inflammatory responses.
Abstract:
The method of treating type I diabetes includes the treatment of diabetic patients with choline in order to control the patient's lipid profile. The treatment method includes the step of administering to the patient a therapeutically effective dosage of choline or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. In human patients, the effective dosage of choline is preferably approximately 10 mg., delivered daily. Although the choline may be injected in solution, it is preferably delivered orally to the patient.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an image capture apparatus that facilitates fast, easy and convenient image capture of the two apposing pages of hard to scan bound documents such as thick books. The image capture apparatus has special design features that conveniently and properly positions bound documents to enable capturing distortion-free images without damage to the binding. In one preferred embodiment the invention facilitates the use of a digital image capture module such as a digital camera or digital video camera in performing an equivalent function to a flatbed scanner in recording digital images. In another preferred embodiment the invention facilitates the use of a regular camera in recording photographic images of the bound document. In yet another preferred embodiment the invention facilitates the use of a flatbed scanner in recording digital images.
Abstract:
The circuit and method for increasing the scan cell observability of response compactors is based on manipulation of x distribution in responses prior to taking them through a compactor. An x-align block is capable of delaying scan chains by judiciously computed values, and thus aligning x's within the same slices. The x-alignment is effected in the insertion of proper control data to the generic x-align hardware. As a result, fewer scan cells are masked due to response x's into other cells, reflecting into enhanced test quality. An ILP formulation can be used to identify the delay assignment that leads to the maximum number of observable scan cells. Alternatively, a computationally efficient greedy heuristic can be used to attain near-optimal results in reasonable run-time. Thus, the x-align block enhances the effectiveness of response compactors and reaps high test quality, even in the dense presence of response x's.
Abstract:
There is disclosed an antitheft security alarm system and method for manhole covers, rainwater drains, and the like, to prevent burglary of the cover by transmitting a wireless alarm signal to a remote station when the cap is removed to notify a dispatch center or other notification message recipient of the burglary incident and location. The security apparatus may be an integrated unit, including sensors, a telemetry unit, a power supply, a processor, and supporting hardware, all located in an enclosed, waterproof housing. The security alarm system apparatus is adapted to fit within a manhole cavity without the need for extensive or alteration of existing manhole structures.
Abstract:
The system for making suspensions includes a housing, with a platform mounted therein and a translating table slidably mounted on the platform for removably supporting a receptacle. A base fluid tank stores a base fluid, and a solid particle container stores solid particles. A rotating dispenser system is mounted within the housing, above the platform and the receptacle. The rotating dispenser includes a base fluid dispenser for dispensing a controlled mass of the base fluid into the receptacle, and a solid particle dispenser for dispensing a controlled mass of the solid particles into the receptacle. The base fluid dispenser is in communication with the base fluid tank, and the solid particle dispenser is in communication with the solid particle container. A mixer selectively and controllably mixes the controlled mass of the base fluid and the controlled mass of the solid particles in the receptacle to form the suspension.
Abstract:
The modular intramedullary fixation device is a multi-piece bone fixation device for insertion into the medullary cavity of a bone. In one embodiment, the modular intramedullary fixation device is formed from a plurality of substantially Z-shaped modular elements, which are assembled together to a desired length and width. In additional embodiments, the modular intramedullary fixation device includes a proximal portion, a distal portion, and a connector for connecting the two portions to each other. The connector may be provided in a wide variety of configurations, including an adjustable connector for adjusting the length of the modular intramedullary fixation device. Each of the proximal and distal portions may further have an adjustable length.
Abstract:
An automated hydroponics system includes a plant housing, a power source, a microcontroller, and a handheld device. The plant housing includes a platform for supporting a plant, a main solution container for storing water to be supplied to the plant, and a plurality of supplemental solution containers including a low pH solution container, a high pH solution container, and a nutrient solution container. The main solution container is connected to the supplemental solution containers by one or more water-supply conduits. The main solution container can include a pH level sensor configured for detecting pH levels in the main solution, a TDS sensor for detecting a level of total dissolved solids in the main solution a temperature sensor for monitoring a temperature of the main solution, a water level sensor for monitoring a level of the main solution, and one or more pumps.
Abstract:
A dispenser system includes at least one main tubular element, at least one nozzle, and openings formed on the main tubular element. The at least one nozzle receives and injects a first fluid inside the main tubular element. The openings in conjunction with the nozzle enable fluid circulation between inside and outside of the main tubular element.
