Disclosed herein is an elastomeric joint tape used in the fabrication of panelized wall systems with elastomeric joints that are resistant to cracking. The joint tape is made from an elastomeric backing material with an adhesive applied to a face, and optionally, a release liner laminated to the adhesive. In use, building panels are fastened to a frame with the edges adjacent to each other. The joint tape is applied to the seam between the panels and the wall is then finished with an elastomeric finish. Also disclosed is a method of manufacturing the elastomeric joint tape.

Also, a method for sealing a car body comprising using the one-pack type urethane sealing material for a car body as a sealing material. The sealing material has a shape maintaining ability and can be cured by heating and causes no foaming upon heating in a high temperature and high humidity environment such as summer seasons, so that it can be used advantageously as a sealing material for a car body.

Disclosed herein are panelized wall systems and methods for their construction, wherein the wall systems have elastomeric joints that are resistant to cracking. The walls are constructed with adhesive-edge building panels. The adhesive-edge building panels are preferably fiber cement. The front surface of each panel has an adhesive preapplied to an edge of the panel. Panels are fastened to a frame with the adhesive-edges adjacent to each other. A joint tape is applied to the seam between the panels such that the edges of the joint tape adhere to the adhesive-edges of the adjacent panels. The wall is then finished with an elastomeric finish.

It is important that the combining step be undertaken at a temperature high enough to cause the thermoplastics material to bond to the thermosetting material and while it is simplest for the thermoplastics material to be on an outer surface of the composite extrusion, it is possible for it to be located within the thermosetting material by extruding the thermosetting material in an “opened out” state and then after extruding the thermoplastics and while the extrusion is still hot, folding in edge regions of the main body to overlie the thermoplastics material and bond thereto. The thermoplastics material may be of a special color, may be embossed, and if it is located within the thermosetting material in the end product, may be stiffer than the latter. The invention also extends to the extrusions themselves.

A vehicle window panel assembly and a manufacturing method for such assemblies having a gasket made from a melt-processible material and providing a long-term, failure-resistant bond between the gasket and window panel for retaining the window panel assembly in the vehicle, The gasket material provides a bond which resists both short- and long-term dynamic and static loads exerted on attachment members embedded in the gasket to prevent failure or separation between the gasket member and the window panel assembly for prolonged assembly life and substantial saving to vehicle manufacturers and owners. A method of making a weatherstripping product for attachment on an automotive vehicle or for other weatherstripping applications, said method comprising the steps of: forming a support member of a predetermined configuration, extruding an elastomeric weatherstrip, treating a surface of the elastomeric weatherstrip with an abundance of ultraviolet radiation from a UV source to thereby provide a UV treated surface on the weatherstrip, applying a low friction surface coating to the UV treated surface on the weatherstrip to provide a coated elastomeric weatherstrip, mounting the coated elastomeric weatherstrip on said support member, to thereby provide a weatherstripping product with markedly improved anti-squeak and ice release characteristics; and the weatherstripping product prepared from this material.
