    摘要: A measurement device is provided that determines fluid properties from vibration frequencies of a sample cavity and a reference cavity. In one embodiment, the measurement device includes a sample flow tube, a reference flow tube, vibration sources and detectors mounted on the tubes, and a measurement module. The sample flow tube receives a flow of sample fluid for characterization. The reference flow tube is filled with a reference fluid having well-characterized properties. The measurement module employs the vibration sources to generate vibrations in both tubes. The measurement module combines the signals from the vibration detectors on the tubes to determine properties of the sample fluid, such as density, viscosity, compressibility, water fraction, and bubble size. The measurement module may further detect certain flow patterns such as slug flow, for example. To measure the sample fluid density, the measurement module determines the difference between resonance frequencies of the sample flow tube and the reference flow tube. The density can then be calculated according to a formula. Other fluid properties may be determined from the sample tube's resonance peak amplitude, peak width and/or peak shape. Variation of the density measurements may be used to detect and characterize multiple phase fluid flow. The use of a reference tube in the disclosed measurement device is expected to greatly enhance the accuracy and reliability of the measurement device over a range of temperatures, pressures, and shock accelerations such as those that may be found downhole in a well.

    摘要: This invention pertains to a device which is attached on rotating or moving equipment for the purpose of monitoring unsafe levels of equipment vibration. The invention comprises a mechanical assembly which is adjustably sensitive to the vibration amplitude of its given application. The monitor is so designed that it does not include the electronic switching device as an integral part of the invention. Rather, commercially available switching devices (proximity switches) are used as the electronic switching component. In the preferred embodiment, the unit is sensitive to vibration in any plane. The vibration monitor is a signaling device; it can be used to sound an external alarm, engage safety equipment, or disengage or stop moving equipment. It was developed as an inexpensive, rugged, device which can be used in conjunction with general purpose proximity switches to give vibration monitoring capability to an existing proximity switch product line.

    摘要: A seismographic sensor is constructed from a D'Arsonval movement. The elements of the movement include a coil suspended in the field of a permanent magnet and a pointer attached to the coil. A weight is attached to the pointer and acts as an inertia element. Leveling screws are provided to control the period of the weighted pointer and to control the resting position of the pointer. When the base of the meter vibrates during an earthquake, the weighted pointer does not follow the vibration because of its inertia, resulting in a relative rotation of the meter coil and the magnet field, thereby inducing a voltage in the coil. This voltage is proportional to one component of horizontal velocity of the earth's motion. Means are provided to process and record the magnitude of this voltage.

    摘要: A displacement sensor for an electrocardiograph attaches a permanent magnet chip directly on a living body, and movement or vibration of the living body is sensed by measuring flux by said magnet. The electrocardiograph has a magnet assembly having an adhesive film mounting a permanent magnet at the center of the film supported on a bottom ring which has a plurality of upright walls with jaws, for detachably engaging the magnet assembly with a sensor body. The sensor body has saturable inductors which are placed in flux by said magnet and are coupled with a process circuit having an astable multivibrator with a collector load by said saturable inductors and a low-pass filter connected to the output of the multivibrator. The magnet assembly is first adhered on a living body, then, the sensor body is engaged with the same by engaging said jaws with a projection on the sensor body, then, the process circuit provides an output signal reflecting the movement of a living body. Said jaw on the sensor body and/or the magnet assembly has a slanted surface for easy coupling and/or detachment of the sensor body and the magnet assembly. Said adhesive film is covered with a removable paper, which is removed when the device is used. The length between said permanent magnet and said saturable inductors is set a little longer than the desired length for operation, taking into consideration the convexed profile of a human body.

    摘要: Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) perturbation sensing apparatus. A rigid, shock resistant enclosure provides a housing having a sealed interior, in which a magnetohydrodynamic sensor and associated electronics are disposed. A hollow tubular conduit having an internal channel containing an electrically conductive fluid such as mercury or an electrolyte is of preferably ring shaped dimensions. The electrically conductive fluid is subject to perturbation-responsive movement within the ring. A very strong magnetic field is set up perpendicularly with respect to the plane occupied by the conduit by at least one pair of spaced apart magnets which have opposite poles disposed in a line generally normal to the plane of the conduit. One or more pairs of electrodes are secured to the conduit in a position normal to the magnetic field whereby to sense perturbations. In one embodiment a generally disc-shaped body substantially encapsulates a generally rectilinear, centrally disposed magnetic array and a cooperating ring-shaped or circular channel through which the electrically conductive fluid may move in response to perturbations. Fluid disposed within the channel may also be forced to move by MHD phenomena. A pair of drive electrodes and a pair of sensing electrodes are provided for information derivation and control. A plug may be disposed concentrically within the housing, and a pair of voids are formed on opposite sides thereof between the plug and the inner periphery of an electrode ring. Preferably a fluid such as nitrogen gas is filled within this region to provide pressure compensation in response to movement of electrically conductive fluid.
