    摘要: The present invention relates telecommunication systems with virtual connections for voice over digital subscriber lines. In one embodiment, a digital subscriber line (DSL) access device is disclosed. The device comprises a network port, a plurality of local ports and an access function. The network port is adapted to receive cells on at least one aggregated permanent virtual connection. The plurality of local ports are adapted to interface a plurality of local permanent virtual connections. The access function is adapted to translate the cells between aggregated permanent virtual connections and the plurality of local permanent virtual connections.

    摘要: In general, the SRM provides a network provider with visibility and control of its broadband network. A SRM connection manager receives setup signals to and from a subscriber and acts on them by analyzing the setup signals and by either comparing the setup signals to predefined rules, which are either static or dynamic, or modifying them. The access server provides intelligence to the SRM by verifying authentication information according to the connection manager's database and continuously updating the connection manager database for further modification of the subscriber's acquired session.

    摘要: A system and method for transmitting Frame Relay based communication over an ATM based network that includes a DSL link are disclosed. The Frame Relay based communication is mapped into ATM cells at a Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM). The mapping of the Frame Relay frames into ATM cells is carried in accordance with transparent mode or translation mode functionality provided in the DSLAM. The Frame Relay data may be mapped into the ATM cells pursuant to FRF.5, FRF.8, FRF.8.1, or other similar standards. The system and method may enable transparent propagation of the Frame Relay data across the DSL/ATM network, for receipt on the other end of the network by a Frame Relay compatible switch, or an ATM compatible switch.

    摘要: Disclosed is a scalable, hierarchical, distributed network architecture and processes for the delivery of high-performance, end-to-end online multimedia services, including Internet services such as World Wide Web access. The network architecture connects a high-speed private backbone to multiple network access points of the Internet, to a network operation center, to a back office system, and to multiple regional servers in regional data centers. Each of the regional servers connects to several caching servers in modified head-ends, which in turn connect via fiber optics to many neighborhood nodes. Finally, each node connects via coaxial cable to multiple end-user systems. The processes include those for replicating and caching frequently-accessed content, and multicasting content customized per region or locality.
