Abstract:
Embodiments of a system and method for providing a user interface for managing calls received at a mobile device is described. The user interface provides an incoming call screen to the user, where the incoming call screen comprises a caller identification data field for displaying data associated with incoming calls and at least one key label field in which labels for mobile device keys (e.g. send and end keys) are displayed. The area of the caller identification data field is substantially greater than the area of the at least one key label field, enabling more information pertaining to incoming calls to be displayed to the user. In at least one embodiment, this is facilitated by providing user-selectable options for responding to incoming calls in an options menu, which can be accessed by a user but is not initially displayed to the user when an incoming call is first received.
Abstract:
Mobile devices transmit biometric data with a call initiation request to enable caller recognition within a contacts database so that caller information can be displayed even if the incoming telephone number is not recognized. A mobile device used to place a call gathers biometric data, such as a fingerprint scan. To protect user identity information the biometric data may be distorted or otherwise modified. The caller biometric data may be communicated as part of a call initiation process. The called mobile device may include a contacts database which includes within the data records stored biometric data associated with contacts. The called mobile device compares received biometric data to biometric data stored within the contacts database to determine if there is a match. If a match or partial match is determined, the contact record associated with that matching biometric data can be accessed and the associated contact information displayed.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing context information along with a voice call is disclosed. In some examples, a calling device receives context information from a user and transmits the context information when establishing a voice call with the user. The context information may include various types of media, such as pictures or videos taken by a calling device. In some examples, a destination mobile device receives a voice call that does have context information and sends a request to a calling mobile device for information related to the voice call.
Abstract:
A mobile electronic communication device includes a processor unit, a transceiver, a keypad and a light unit. Each key of the keypad is associated with a contact of a contact list. The light unit can perform light functions to notify a user of the reception and/or status of messages received via the transceiver. The light functions include providing an indication of the age of a received message that was sent by a contact in the contacts list. The age of the message is indicated by a modulation of the illuminating light. In one embodiment, the age of a message is indicated as one of a set of predetermined age ranges, with each age range being represented by a unique color.
Abstract:
A system and method of saving and delivering a voice memo or text memo to identify incoming calls is provided. A user of the system of the invention is given the option of recording a memo on the calls he or she has received through a prompt on a telecommunication device. The user can choose to record a voice memo or text memo after each call. The memos are saved in connection with caller id information pertaining to the number from which the call was placed. When a user of the system receives a call from a number that has a memo saved in relation thereto, the user will be prompted to hear, and may listen to, the voice memo before answering the call. If the memo is in text form, the user can configure the system to provide various processing options. In one processing option, a text to speech audio presentation of the text of the memo is made available to permit the message to be heard over a telephone or networked audio capable PDA device. In other processing options, the user has the text of the message sent to the user's PC or emailed or sent by instant message to the user's PDA device.
Abstract:
Audibly identifying an event includes enabling selection of a first sound based upon an identifier. The identifier enables identification of an entity related to the event. A notification of an occurrence of the event is received. The notification includes the identifier. An intended recipient is alerted of the event by playing, in response to the notification, at least a portion of the first sound and at least a portion of a second sound that is related to the event.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for reminding and browsing related information of contacts, and a recording medium using the same are provided. In the present method, a communication device displays a contact list comprising at least one contact on a screen thereof. Meanwhile, the communication device checks whether each contact has unread related information and displays an indicating icon on the corresponding contact in the contact list when it is determined that the contact has related information unread, so as to remind a user of the communication device that the contact has unread related information.
Abstract:
In embodiments of the disclosed technology, a plurality of ratings of websites is received, wherein each rating is associated with a category and a rater and each rater is associated with at least one group. A selection of a category is received from the user, wherein the user is associated with at least one group. One website location (or a plurality of website locations) is provided in the category to the user based on at least one rating of the plurality of ratings provided by at least one of the raters, wherein at least one group associated with the rater and at least one the group associated with the user are the same group.
Abstract:
A communication system comprises a sending device, a receiving device and a network which connects the sending device to the receiving device. The sending device comprises at least one user operable input for entering a sequence of textual characters. as a message and transmission means for sending the message across the network. The receiving device comprises a memory which stores a plurality of head images, each one being associated with a different sending device and comprising an image of a head viewed from the front, receiver means for receiving the message comprising the sequence of textual characters, text to speech converting means for converting the text characters of the message into an audio message corresponding to the sequence of text characters and animating means for generating an animated partial 3D image of a head from the head image stored in the memory which is associated with the sender of the message. The animating means animates at least one facial feature of the head, the animation corresponding the movements made by the head when reading the message. A display displays the animated partial 3D head; and a loudspeaker outputs the audio message in synchronisation with the displayed head.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus are disclosed for delivering enhanced caller information to a called party. A user document associated with a calling party is provided to the called party as part of signaling information associated with the call, such as a SIP invite message. The user document may be, for example, a vCard or vCalendar.
