    摘要： Embodiments for searching multiple directories are described. The searching includes remote searching and local searching. Local searching is performed against the local integrated phonebook on a client device. In contrast, remote searching is performed against one or more directories or directory types of an enterprise server (e.g. corporate directory, etc.). The local directory on the client device therefore effectively functions like a cache of information of one or more of the directories of the enterprise server, where the cache is stored locally on the client device.

    摘要： A subscriber to a remote call forwarding feature on a wire-line telephone line associated with a PBX (101) or central office (402), hereinafter, a “user”, can enable that feature by entering a feature code from an IP terminal (112, 412). The user enters a feature code from his/her IP terminal (112, 412), which feature code is received by a remote server (for example, server 110) having access to an IP user directory (113, 413), hereinafter, for example, an active user registry (AUR) database, and forwards necessary information for invoking the feature in a determined manner to a Service Control Point (SCP) (106, 406). The SCP recognizes the feature code as a request to invoke the remote call forwarding feature on the user's wire-line telephone so that calls directed to that wire-line telephone are forwarded to, for example, the user's cellular phone. Receipt of that feature code by the SCP, identifies the cellular phone's Electronic Serial Number (ESN) from a provided cellular phone number or Mobile Identification Number (MIN) and identifies the user and the feature to be invoked for that user. By performing an SCP database (108, 408) lookup associated with that ESN and MIN, information is retrieved relating to what PBX (101) or switch (402) should be contacted to invoke the feature, how and where to contact that PBX or switch, and what specifically must be sent to that PBX or switch to invoke the feature on the user's telephone line.

    摘要： A wireless telephone backup device for landline telephone equipment that may be located on the customer side of the landline service connection, typically in a restricted access location, such as an attic, basement, or utility closet. An interconnection circuit in the backup device detects service interruptions in the subscriber's landline connection and, in response, powers on a wireless communication device to provide backup telephone service to the customer premises equipment. The interconnection circuit also provides the other features standard landline telephone service, including dial tone, ring voltage, and normal dialing for outgoing calls. The backup device also forwards incoming landline calls to the wireless unit in the backup device, and may send a message notifying a maintenance center of the service interruption. Further, the backup device may initiate an indicator in an alarm system at the site of the customer premises equipment to notify the subscriber of the service interruption.

    摘要： A system and method for call forwarding based on localized wireless identification are provided. In one exemplary embodiment, a landline telephone is equipped with a localized landline telephone identifier device which broadcasts an identification signal within a localized limited range. A wireless telephone is equipped with a detection unit that detects the presence of the identification signal when the wireless telephone is within the localized limited range of the landline telephone. The detection of this identification signal initiates a determination as to whether call forwarding should be initiated between the two telephones. This call forwarding may be initiated automatically or in response to a user command. The user may select to either have the call forwarding performed on a one-time basis or to automatically perform call forwarding whenever the wireless telephone is within range of the landline telephone. A plurality of wireless telephones may all forward calls to the same landline telephone.
