Abstract:
A system and method provide users the ability to quickly and efficiently transfer images from a scanner to an online web page. In particular, the system can be implemented as follows. A scanner scans an image in order to generate a scanned image. A transferring mechanism takes the scanned image generated by said scanner, and transfers the scanned image to a web device for storage. The web device is located on and accessed by a network. The web device manages and stores scanned images.
Abstract:
A printing system including printing equipment in which, even if the equipment are interconnected through an interface pursuant to the IEEE 1394 standard, the printing image may be set to effect printing. There is provided a CPU 23 for generating the printing control information containing the text printing image information indicating the picture processing contents for the text at the time of printing and the picture printing image information indicating the processing contents for a picture at the time of printing. There is also provided a data conversion unit 13 which manages control so that picture data and the printing control information will be contained in a packet consistent with the IEEE 1394 standard and sent as output to a printer device 5, and so that the picture data contained in the packet sent as output to the printer device 5 will be printed in accordance with the printing control information. When packets are transmitted/received between the equipment interconnected through the IEEE 1394 interface to print the picture data, the picture processing consistent with the text printing image information and the picture printing image information is performed on the picture data on the side printer device 5 to print the text or the picture.
Abstract:
An email communication system employed in a packet switching network environment for transmission of an email message including at least one fax message for use by fax recipient(s), through the packet switching network environment, includes a network device for communication with one or more mail servers. The mail servers are responsive to an email message having at least one tax message received from an email user. The network device receives the email message, through a forward connection, from one of the mail servers and converts the received email message into the fax message for transmission thereof to at least one fax recipient. The network device further starts to transmit the email message with context information appended thereto, forming a reverse email message, back to one of the mail servers, wherein the mail server is used to store the reverse email message until the mail server is ready to send the same to the network device thereby avoiding the need for secondary storage within the network device.
Abstract:
When image data read by a scanner apparatus is to be transferred to and displayed by a simplified portable terminal, the capability such as the size or color depth of an image display area may be lower than that of the scanned image data. If this is the case, the terminal transfers its capability to the scanner apparatus, and the scanner apparatus converts the scanned image data into image data matching the capability of the terminal. The obtained image data is transmitted to and displayed by the terminal. This obviates the need for a user to set complicated parameters on the scanner apparatus. This can also reduce the load of image processing performed by the terminal on image data transmitted from the scanner apparatus.
Abstract:
The present invention is in the field of digital imaging. It relates to a method for determining the coordinates of a subject of interest in a digital image, so as to be able to then display this subject of interest on the screen of a terminal with low display capacity. The present invention enables, from the screen of a terminal with sufficient display capacity, at least one subject of interest in an original still digital image to be selected, and the coordinates of said subject of interest to be determined. The application of the present invention consists in preparing the display operation of subjects of interest of digital images on the screens of terminals with low display capacity.
Abstract:
A method and system for accessing a network-based document server application from a client. An access point is defined within a local file system of the client. A local file navigation interface allows a user of the client to interface to the access point such that the network-based document management system is accessed via the local file system of the client.
Abstract:
Transmission data is generated through a conversion process in which character string data attached to e-mail is matched with a character set type that can be processed by a destination terminal apparatus. In addition, character string data of set phrases that are generated by using character sets that are standard in each plurality of language types is stored in a language-based set phrase memory. By selecting a set phrase registered in the language-based set phrase memory, based on a language type that is set by the destination terminal apparatus, transmission data is generated in accordance with the character string data. Capability information in relation to a character set type and language type is either obtained from MDN data within a response mail to be stored in an address-based terminal capability memory, or obtained via a communication process in accordance with an ESMTP step.
Abstract:
The image management apparatus, image management program, and image management method are provided for obtaining image and sending it to a communication device or recording it in a recording medium if the image to be obtained has a larger amount of information than a prerecorded image and is closer to the original image. There are provided a recording device for associating and recording an image with the identification and image properties of the image, a sending and receiving device for obtaining an image, the identification and image properties of the image from a communication apparatus through a communication device, an information processing device for reading image properties stored in the recording device based on the identification of the image obtained by the sending and receiving device and comparing them with the obtained image properties, and a sending and receiving device for outputting the obtained image to the communication apparatus if the comparison by the information processing device shows that the obtained image properties have a larger amount of information than that of the recorded image properties.
Abstract:
An electronic still camera comprising a lens, shutter, and exposure control system, a focus and range control circuit, a solid state imaging device incorporating a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) through which an image is focused, a digital control unit through which timing and control of an image for electronic processing is accomplished, an Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter circuit to convert the analog picture signals into their digital equivalents, a pixel buffer for collecting a complete row of an image's digital equivalent, a frame buffer for collecting all rows of an image's digital equivalent, and a selectively adjustable digital image compression and decompression algorithm that compresses the size of a digital image and selectively formats the compressed digital image to a compatible format for either the IBM Personal Computer and related architectures or the Apple Macintosh PC architecture as selected by the operator so that the digital image can be directly read into most word processing, desktop publishing, and data base software packages including means for executing the appropriate selected decompression algorithm; and a memory input/output interface that provides both temporary storage of the digital image and controls the transmission and interface with a standard Personal Computer (PC) memory storage device such as a digital diskette. The digital diskette is removably inserted into the housing of the camera prior to use in recording digital image data.
Abstract:
When sending photographic image data obtained in an electronic camera 1 via a communication interface 42 to a radio telephone line of a PDC 3, a PHS 4, etc., an RISC-CPU 11 converts the image data to data having a configuration allowing communication and further converts by software processing the communication-allowing configuration data to data corresponding to the type of the radio telephone line.
