Abstract:
A dispensing apparatus for throwing discrete quantities of a viscous fluid material from a material source toward a target surface includes a housing having a material entry structure for connection to the material source, a material exit structure and a material passageway extending from the entry structure to the exit structure; a drive motor; a material pump powered by the drive motor for driving a stream of the material through the material passageway; and a centrifugal material throwing mechanism for accelerating segments of the material stream through the material exit structure toward the target surface. The material throwing mechanism preferably includes a direction adjustment mechanism for changing the exit trajectory of the accelerated segments of the material stream relative to the material exit structure.
Abstract:
A rotary sprinkler includes a drive assembly having a rotary drive rotated by the inletted pressurized water, a rotor, a mechanical coupling between the rotary drive and the rotor, and at least one ball carried by the rotor and movable radially outwardly thereof by centrifugal force during the rotation of the rotor; and a water discharge assembly rotatably carried by the sprinkler housing and including a water discharge outlet fluidly coupled to the sprinkler inlet, and an abutment located to be impacted by the ball when in its radial outward position during the rotation of the rotor to thereby rotate the water discharge assembly in a series of stepped increments.
Abstract:
A rotary sprinkler and sled base. The sled base has a main body with a pair of wings pivotally connected thereto at opposed sides. The wings permit compact storage when folded in and provide a wider footprint when folded out to make the sprinkler more stable. The sprinkler head has a water channel which permits the jets to be lower to the ground for increased sprinkler stability. The sprinkler has a plurality of different sized vertical jets to achieve a more uniform water distribution, the top jet spraying further from the sprinkler, the bottom jet spraying the closest. The sprinkler has deflection means. The deflector may be a manually adjustable to fix the maximum spray distance or the deflector may be connected to a cam follower which follows a deformable circular "roller coaster" cam surface to alter the maximum spray distance as the sprinkler rotates. The deflector assembly may also include means for reducing water flow to the all of the jets.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for dispensing water in a radially uniform distribution over a surface. The reciprocating sprinkler device includes a housing, an inlet port for receiving water under pressure to the housing, at least two outlet ports capable of dispersing water in differing directions, and a reciprocating water driven valve. Each outlet port includes an opening for receiving water from within the housing. The reciprocating valve alternately covers portions of the outlet port openings as it moves, thereby modulating the flow of water between the outlet ports resulting in increasing and decreasing flows of water across a surface.
Abstract:
A humidifier having a reservoir, an exhaust opening, and a humidification unit including a motor driven fan with a suction tube attached thereto, a diffusion screen, and an intake opening. Water is drawn from the reservoir through the suction tube and dispersed towards the diffusion screen to cause mist which is combined with air drawn through the intake opening by the fan and expelled through the exhaust opening. An integral latch mechanism removably and replaceably attaches the suction tube to the fan to facilitate cleaning of the tube.
Abstract:
A cyclonic power wash system uses high pressure, high temperature water for selectively cleaning large, flat, concrete or asphalt surfaces. The sprayed water is reclaimed by vacuuming it through holes in the bottom of a reclamation ring attached to the underside of the mobile cyclone sprayer, filtering the vacuumed water and returning it to a storage tank for re-use by the system. The filtration tank initially filters out large matter in an inlet trough and smaller matter in a plurality of cascading chambers. A rotary union in the sprayer prevents the water, passing from the inlet of the rotary union to the discharge thereof, from leaking through or around a seal formed by pressing together a pair of hard, durable sealing surfaces, for example, silicon carbide, one of which is non-rotatably slidingly received in an upper recess of the union's fixed housing and the other, affixed to a spindle rotatably received and retained in a lower recess of the housing. The sliding fit interface of the non-rotatable seal face in the upper recessed housing is sealed by an o-ring supported at its inner bore by extended portions adjacent the central bores of the members between which it is sandwiched. Upward and rotational forces are applied to the spindle in reaction to the water exiting from nozzles affixed to a spray bar attached to the spindle.
Abstract:
A device for generating a spray of mist or fine droplets includes a spinning rotor within a mist chamber. The rotor has inner walls which taper conically outwardly from the open bottom of the rotor to a hole near the top of the rotor. Liquid is pumped by a finger actuated pump from a cartridge module into a bowl surrounding the bottom end of the rotor. A spray is created as the liquid is formed into droplets as it passes through the hole in the rotor under centrifugal force. A directional light source is used for aiming the spray.
Abstract:
A miniature sprinkler has a fixed vertically extending nozzle in communication with a supply pipe and includes a flow diverter having an axially extending inlet in register with the nozzle outlet. The diverter is rotatably mounted by an axially extending shaft loosely retained in a bushing at the top of the nozzle. The diverter inlcudes a the side outlet and an open arcuate channel between the inlet and side outlet from which the water is emitted in the form of a jet. The drive apparatus includes at least one blade affixed adjacent the periphery of the flow diverter and at least partially aligned with the diverter outlet so that at least part of the flow from the diverter outlet impinges on the blade to cause the rotation of the diverter. The blade is being shaped such as to change the direction of the flow of water impinging thereupon. The diverter is axially movable relative to the nozzle to close the outlets and the nozzle in the absence of water flowing through the nozzle.
Abstract:
A rotating stream nozzle is provided particularly for use as an irrigation sprinkler, wherein the nozzle provides a plurality of outwardly directed and discrete water streams which are rotated in steps through a prescribed arcuate spray path. The rotating stream nozzle is adapted for mounting onto a water supply conduit and includes a swirl plate through which water under pressure flows with a swirling action into a relatively small drive chamber. The swirling water flow forces a drive ball within the drive chamber to move into repetitious impact engagement with raised anvils formed on the inner diameter surface of a cylindrical rotor lining the drive chamber and mounted for rotation within a nozzle cap. The rotor is displaced through a small rotational step each time the drive ball strikes one of the anvils, and the water is discharged from the nozzle as discrete rotating streams passing through small discharge ports in the rotor. An open window in the nozzle cap permits outward projection of some of the water streams within the prescribed arcuate path.
