Abstract:
A device for generating a spray of mist or fine droplets includes a spinning rotor within a mist chamber. The rotor has inner walls which taper conically outwardly from the open bottom of the rotor to a hole near the top of the rotor. Liquid is pumped by a finger actuated pump from a cartridge module into a bowl surrounding the bottom end of the rotor. A spray is created as the liquid is formed into droplets as it passes through the hole in the rotor under centrifugal force. A directional light source is used for aiming the spray.
Abstract:
A method for packaging a liquid to semi-solid substance under a vacuum inside a variable-capacity container closed by a dispenser member that prevents ingress of air, includes at least a stage in which the dispenser member is fixed in sealed manner on the container filled with the substance. The fixing takes place while the container is inside an enclosure in which an air vacuum is maintained. Apparatus for implementing the method includes, for example, a ring suitable for bearing downwards in sealed manner on the open top of a socket containing the container, thereby enabling the enclosure to be established. A device is provided therein for sucking out the air, and also for fixing on the dispenser member. It is possible to obtain like this dispensers that are particularly advantageous, particularly when the dispenser member is a precompression pump.
Abstract:
A manual precompression pump for spraying or dispensing a fluid substance contained in a receptacle, said pump having a pump body (1) in which a hollow piston (2) slides the piston being extended by a hollow rod (3) including the seat (7a) for a closure valve member (6) urged towards said hollow rod by a spring (10), said spring pushing the valve member (6) and the piston (2) towards a rest position, said pump including a pump chamber (12) which is in communication with the receptacle when the valve member and the piston are in their rest positions, said pump chamber (12) being capable of being isolated from the receptacle by sealed interfitting of a first cylinder (8) integral with the valve member (6) and of a second cylinder (4) integral with the pump body, said pump being characterized in that a valve rod (7b) extends the valve member (6) through the hollow rod (3) to a distance H1 beyond the outside end of the hollow rod, and in that starting from the rest position of the valve member, the cylinder (8) integral with the valve member can be moved towards the cylinder (4) integral with the pump body through a distance H2 which is greater than H1 without the interfitting between the two cylinders becoming sealed.
Abstract:
A system for metered dispensing of a product comprising a hermetically-sealed package containing sealed therein product to be dispensed, together with a pressurizing agent and a pump for dispensing the product. The pump discharge pressure of which is substantially independent of the internal pressure of said package.
Abstract:
A suction and force pump for a fluid in a sealed fluid container makes possible the drawing off by suction of residual air after the filling of the container with fluid, with the piston (3) in a particular position in the pressure cylinder (8) of the pump, by means of the pump channel (7) of the pump itself. For this purpose there is provided a channel for drawing off the residual air by suction, from the upper side of the fluid container through openings (13), a gap between piston (3) and the internal wall of the pressure cylinder (8), which gap is sealed with respect to the pressure cylinder (8) only by means of a peripheral sealing lip (9), through the pressure chamber (6) to the pump channel (7). The valve (5) to the fluid container is thereby closeable independently of pressure during the pumping away, by means of a plunger (11).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aerosol hair spray package having reduced volatile organic compound emission during the useful life of the package. A hair spray composition (3, 25) is packaged in either a self-propelled aersol hair spray package (1) or a pump spray hair spray package (20) containing a low delivery rate discharge means (6,23). The hair spray composition (3, 25) contains a combination of at least two polymers in weight ratios of 99:1 to 1:99 differing in weight average molecular weight by at least 1.5, one of which is required to have a number average molecular weight of at least 100,000. This blend of polymers combines with the low delivery rate discharge means--0.2-0.38 grams per second for the self-propelled hair spray package (1) and 0.06 to 0.012 grams per pump stroke for the pump spray hair spray package (20)--to provide an atomized hair spray composition having a volume mean particle size of 60.+-.12 microns for package (12) and 73.+-.13 microns for package (20). These packages are considerably smaller in size than conventional hair spray packages having higher discharge rates, but provide substantially the same number of uses per container as the larger size conventional hair spray packages, thus effecting reduced cost and environmental impact advantages.
Abstract:
A spray head for use with a receptacle containing a liquid which is maintained under pressure by a propellant gas, thereby enabling a product to be packaged so that it is protected from coming into contact with the air, the spray head being of the type comprising a manually-operated precompression pump which includes a pump chamber comprising first and second cylinders (11, 15) capable of engaging telescopically, said chamber being closed by relative displacement of said cylinders, said first cylinder being integral with the pump outlet valve and being provided at one of its end with a circular sealing lip (12) capable of engaging against and of sliding along the wall of said second cylinder, which second cylinder is in communication with the inside of the receptacle, said wall being provided at at least one of its ends with fairly substantial relief (18, 25) such that when said sealing lip lies over said relief and said relief causes sealing to be broken, a passage is opened suitable for passing gas at a rate of flow which is sufficient for filling the receptacle.
Abstract:
An invertible pump sprayer is disclosed which enables a spray to be produced even with liquid material having viscosities as high as 100 cps. and regardless of the direction in which the spray is directed. The pump sprayer comprises a flexible container for containing the liquid material to be dispensed which collapses as the material therein is dispensed and a spray pump unit operatively associated with the flexible container. This unit includes a spray head for dispensing the material as a spray and a manually-operated pump for introducing the material to the spray head.
Abstract:
An economical and easy to operate mechanically operated dispensing device has a rotatable actuator connected with at least one expansible chamber to effect operation of the expansible chamber to draw material to be dispensed from a container into the expansible chamber and to then pressurize the material. An expansible bulb is connected with the expansible chamber and with a dispensing nozzle, and has a volumetric capacity several times as great as the expansible chamber. Valves are associated with the bulb to control flow into and out of the bulb, whereby the rotatable actuator and expansible chamber are operative to repeatedly draw material from the container, pressurize it and transfer it under pressure into the bulb, the bulb expanding as material is added thereto, and the elasticity of the bulb being such as to exert a substantial pressure on the material in the bulb. Subsequent operation of the dispensing nozzle releases the material from the expanded bulb, and the bulb returns to its normal, at-rest condition. The relative sizes of the expansible chamber and bulb are such that a hydraulic force multiplication is obtained from the expansible chamber into the bulb, whereby very little effort is required to operate the rotatable actuator. Additionally, return of the bulb to its at-rest condition after a dispensing operation results in longer life for the bulb and prevents stretching or loss of tension in the bulb.
