摘要： A keyboard includes a plurality of keys thereon, each of which is capable of three different switching actions for entry of data or commands into a word processor, typewriter, computer or the like. Each key includes a first inclined surface for generating a first switching action responsive to finger contraction, a second inclined surface for generating a second switching action responsive to finger extension, and a horizontal surface for actuating a third switching action responsive to finger depression. Each key is connected to a respective switch. Each switch includes a carriage operating horizontally against spring-loaded horizontal plugs. The carriage houses a spring-loaded vertical stem attached to the respective key.

摘要： A computer keyboard matrix overlay panel carries indicia indicating the functions of keys and other operating instructions, to replace a significant part of the information formerly set forth in an external instruction manual. Individual panels are coded by incorporated switch parts acting with cooperating computer switch parts to set up a particular operating mode for which the respective key functions are identified when the panel is in place over the computer keyboard keys, the functions being selected by the use of two sequential, non-simultaneous keystrokes involving any of the keys on the keyboard. The panels also serve as software media by incorporation of data strips along panel edges to permit carrying program and data information external to the computer memory which is readable into the computer by corresponding transducers. The panel codes can change the comptuer mode and enter corresponding programs, subroutines, constants, and variable data. With three separate code strips: data, program steps and subroutines are isolated advantageously for entry at different times. Optically coded data strips are used for read only memory for program steps. Magnetically coded strips are used for read-write memory into corresponding reading apparatus coupled to the computer for data which is updated after processing in the computer.

摘要： A computer keyboard system provides for fast entry of all numeric data, yet with only a small number of keys, such as the minimum number of twelve, is able to make hundreds of computer functions available for access from the keyboard. Typically a sixteen key keyboard will make available 266 different functions from a modern computer chip, surprisingly without sacrifice of more complex programming procedures and with significant advantage in providing finger room for error free operation of pocket-size computers, for example. A charted catalog of functions and corresponding keystroke selections is graphically displayed adjacent the keyboard keys so that reference to an instruction manual is minimized. Also by appropriate abbreviated notation a more diverse selection of functions is available to the keyboard as designated functions. This simplification of keyboards to be able to provide access to the many built-in programs, subroutines and functions available on modern day computer chips is made feasible by operating a live keyboard in a data input mode and shifting the mode by an execute key to a function selection mode requiring a sequence of two (or more) keystrokes. Thereby for X keys on a keyboard X.sup.n functions become accessible where n is the number of keystrokes in the function selection sequence.

摘要： A graphic input device for controlling the movement of a cursor upon a visual display. The device includes a number of variable resistance pressure transducers corresponding to the primary orthogonal directions of cursor movement. Each pressure transducer comprises a first electrode for selecting the direction of movement and a second electrode spaced from the first electrode, one of the electrodes being made of an electrically resistive elastomeric material. A manipulable force transmitting device is provided to move the electrodes toward one another and into contact, the contact area being variable with the force applied, so that the resistance across the electrodes is high when the contact area is small and lower when the contact area is larger. The device is connected to the visual display via an electrical circuit which supplies signals to move the cursor in a selected direction at a speed inversely proportional to the resistance condition.

摘要： A keyboard which has support frame, or several rows of key units. Each key is movable out of an initial inoperative position by the tip of the index finger. The key of each key unit of a guide key row has a key rod and a top face on one end of the key rod. The tip of a finger rests at random pressure on each top face as, at the opposite end of the key rod, a non-depressable mounting is articulatedly lodged in the support frame and prevents downward depression of the key while permitting tilting toward one or more operational positions.Each key unit of the guide key row has a magnetic pole to exercise a determined initial attraction on the top face-bearing end of the key rod an doppose tilting movement of the key away from the attracting means, when this movement is initiated by a finger tip.A stop prevents the magnetic pole on the opposite key side from following the tilting movement of the key, whereby the attractive force of the magnetic pole decreases as the distance of the key therefrom increases due to the process of the tilting movement of the key, so that the finger tip continues to tilt the key involuntarily further until the key is fully shifted to the operational position.
