摘要: A recovery and towing vehicle which has been specifically designed for transport in a freighter aircraft and must necessarily therefore be of low profile to fit within the cargo space of an air-transport vehicle comprising a main chassis (1) on which is mounted a cab (3) with a removable upper part (5) and a slewing crane (7) having an extendable boom (11), a winch (10) and spades (23) mounted in slideways (29). The vehicle also is provided with a traditional supported lift towing boom (25) but instead of being mounted for pivoting movement on the chassis (1), the boom (25) is mounted for generally vertical sliding movement. For this purpose, slideways (29) are provided on the inside of housing (31) for the spades and vertical movement of the boom (25) is under the control of the main crane boom (11) which can be connected to the boom (25) by a lift strop (41). By providing for the boom (25) to be movable vertically in slideways rather than being pivotally mounted on the chassis, a low profile chassis can be provided and the vertical dimensions of the vehicle can be kept compact.The slideways (29) may be straight or arcuate, arcuate slideways having the advantage of providing increased lift. Such increased lift can also be achieved by inserting a spacer wedge (61) between an anvil (55) at the base of the mast (27) and an abutment surface (59) on the folding boom (33).

摘要: An automotive vehicle is provided, for use inter alia as a mobile anti-tank guided missile-firing platform, which is sufficiently inexpensive to be expendable in battle and can be readily carried by a helicopter. The vehicle has a main frame comprising a pair of longitudinal closed box section members joined to form a ladder construction by a cross member and having strong points for the mounting of an engine and gearbox. The ground wheels, which lean outwards by about 5 degrees, are mounted on stub axles journalled in the box section members and are all driven by chains housed in oil baths within the box section members. Steering is accomplished by braking the transmission on one side or the other. The wheel tires are low pressure raw hide tires. The closed box section members project below the body of the vehicle and have toboggan-shaped ends to act as runners in snow. The body of the vehicle is constructed as a waterproof box to give buoyancy. The front and back wheels are higher on the frame than the center wheels.

摘要: There is provided a gang hitching apparatus for pulling a plurality of farm implement units and including a longitudinally extending hitch bar, a centrally located forwardly extending main draft bar having a tongue portion hinged for rotation about an axis transverse to the draft bar between a stored position and an operative position. There are also provided a pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels for supporting the hitch bar in spaced relation to the ground, the axles of each of the wheels individually adapted to be rotated about a vertical axis of at least 90* whereby the hitch bar is selectively movable in a direction normal to its longitudinal axis and in a direction corresponding to its longitudinal axis. The hitch bars of the present invention are characterized by very low profile and relatively narrow width for highway travel.

Each axle has a respective drive shaft movable therewith and the drive shaft is connected to the motor via a respective driver member, the driver member being connected to the drive shaft via a universal joint located on the respective steering axis.

摘要: The present disclosure discusses a transportation vehicle configured for transforming between a drive mode and a flight mode. The vehicle includes a chassis with a body coupled thereto and a plurality of fenders coupled to the body. Each of the fenders includes a rim comprising spokes and a tire configured to rotate during drive mode and a suspension configured to pivot the plurality of fenders from a substantially vertical orientation during drive mode to a substantially horizontal orientation during flight mode. Each of the fender also includes a propulsion mechanism configured to rotate independently of the rim to generate lift during flight mode and a motor configured to independently provide rotational force to the tire built into the rim during drive mode and rotational force to the propulsion mechanism during flight mode.

摘要: A wingless vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) vehicle has a main body including airfoil sections on either side of a central module in which a load may be carried. Articulated forward thrust systems are mounted on a leading edge of the main body and lateral members are located on either side of the main body and form winglets. At least one rear vertical-thrust system may also be provided and, in one embodiment, is mounted in an aperture aft of the central module. The forward thrust systems transition between a vertical flight configuration and a horizontal flight configuration. The lateral members are configured as both vortex-damping members and also to channel backwash from the forward thrust systems over the airfoil formed by the main body.
