Abstract: An electrical contact includes a contact portion for mating with a mating contact, a wire barrel and an insulation barrel. The insulation barrel has a lead-in projection extending from the insulation barrel toward the wire barrel. The insulation barrel has a first crimping arm and a second crimping arm, with the first crimping arm positioned closer to the wire barrel than the second crimping arm. The lead-in projection is attached to and extends from the first crimping arm. The lead-in projection has a free end which extends proximate to the wire barrel and proximate to an electrical conductor of an electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel. The wire barrel is crimped to the electrical conductor of the electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel and the insulation barrel is crimped to an insulation sleeve of the electrical wire terminated in the wire barrel.

Abstract: A die clearance monitoring system includes a light source, a light detector, and a controller. The light source is disposed along a front side of a die set of a crimping device and emits light towards the die set. The die set includes a first crimp die and a second crimp die that engage and crimp an object along a crimp stroke. The light detector is disposed along a rear side of the die set. The light detector receives the emitted light from the light source that traverses across the die set through a gap defined between the first and second crimp dies and generates light absorption data based on the emitted light that is received. The controller is communicatively connected to the light detector. The controller processes the light absorption data to determine a relative spacing between the first crimp die and the second crimp die.

Abstract: The invention proposes a method for cohesive joining to a cable end (1), in which method a welding tool element (30, 37, 41, 43, 45, 48, 53) is fitted on an open bundle end of individual cores (2, 15) of the cable end (1), welding energy is fed into the individual cores (2, 15), and the welding tool element (30, 37, 41, 43, 45, 48, 53) is removed from the bundle end. In the process, an engagement recess (7, 21) can be formed in the open bundle end, an engagement pin (6, 20, 31, 38, 42, 44, 46, 49, 54) of the welding tool element (30, 37, 41, 43, 45, 48, 53) can engage into the engagement recess (7, 21), and at least a portion of the welding energy can be fed via the engagement recess (7, 21). A configured cable comprising individual cores (2, 15) with a receiving sleeve (4, 16, 33) is also presented, wherein the receiving sleeve (4, 16, 33) has an inlet opening (9) for a bundle (3) of the individual cores (2, 15), the receiving sleeve (4, 16, 33) has an end piece (5, 18) which is widened in relation to the inlet opening (9), and there is, at least also in the widened end piece (5, 18), a cohesive connection between at least one subset of the individual cores (2, 15) with respect to one another and/or between at least a subset of the individual cores (2, 15) and the receiving sleeve (4, 16, 33).

Abstract: A terminal crimping device includes a terminal feeding device, a crimping device and an electric-wire holding mechanism that holds an electric wire with an end portion of the electric wire placed above an electric-wire connecting portion of a crimp terminal. The electric-wire holding mechanism includes an upper surface of a terminal cutting body, on which the electric wire is placed, and an electric-wire presser that is moved downward toward the upper surface and presses and thereby holds the electric wire placed on the upper surface. Between the electric-wire placing portion and a lower surface of the electric-wire presser, an electric-wire holding space is formed that inclines in the same direction to a declining direction in which the end portion of the electric wire is declined in association with downward move of the second die toward the first die, and that holds the electric wire in a thus inclined state.

Abstract: A terminal locator for holding a terminal in a crimping zone of a terminal crimping device includes a housing configured to be positioned forward of crimp tooling defining the crimping zone. The housing has a terminal cavity extending along a terminal axis configured to receive the terminal such that a crimp barrel of the terminal extends rearward of the housing along the terminal axis into the crimping zone for crimping to a wire. A spacer is held by the housing. The spacer has a spacer blocking surface configured to locate the terminal and block axial rearward movement of the terminal. A latch is held by the housing. The latch is deflectable to allow insertion and removal of the terminal from the terminal cavity, the latch having a latch blocking surface configured to locate the terminal and block axial forward movement of the terminal.

Abstract: An L-type coaxial connector is connected to a coaxial cable including a central conductor and an external conductor, and includes a housing, a bushing, and a socket. The housing includes a housing main body, a back-side section, and a crimp section. The housing main body has a first cut section. The back-side section includes a lid section and an extending section extending from the lid section and above which the external conductor is placed. The crimp section extends from the extending section, and its leading end section is bent so as to be opposed to the extending section such that the coaxial cable is interposed therebetween. The extending section has a second cut section, and a joining member joining the external conductor and the extending section is present inside the second cut section.
