摘要： An axially displaceable electrode holder for use in fusion electrolysis, for holding active parts of self-consuming or of slowly self-consuming material by a screw nipple or the like. The electrode holder can have a cooling means with an inflow channel and a return channel and at least partially and preferably in its lower area a protective layer. On its surface a contact arrangement is provided by means of which the electrode holder can be detachably connected to the power supply, while on said electrode holder a plurality of electrical and/or mechanical contact sites are detachably disposed, are made of pressure resistant material, and extend at least over one part of the area of axial displacement of said electrode holder. This electrode holder is distinguished by high operational capacity, flexibility in handling and good electrical properties.

摘要： The present invention relates to a holder assembly for electrodes in an electrothermal smelting furnace. The holder assembly comprises a plurality of contact clamps which are pressed towards the electrode by means of pressure producing means and an externally arranged thrust member. The holder assembly is further equipped with means for communicating current, coolant and pressure agent to the contact clamps. The holder assembly is constructed as a single integrated unit where current, coolant and pressure agent are conducted through the same supply pipes. The supply pipes serve additionally as support for the holder and consequently the electrode. The pressure producing means is constructed as an integral part of the contact clamps while the supply pipes are welded on to the contact clamps. The holder assembly has a total outer diameter which is less than the internal diameter of the suspension casing, whereby the entire holder assembly may be lifted up or lowered down inside the suspension casing during maintenance or substitution of the holder assembly.

摘要： A metal processing furnace of the indirect arc type having opposed electrodes projected into and establishing an ionized atmosphere in the furnace crucible is provided with apparatus that introduces a finely divided charge mixture consisting essentially of silica and coke into the system for free-fall into and through the ionized atmosphere. Following reaction of the mixture's ingredients in the ionized atmosphere, silicon carbide crystals are deposited at the bottom of the furnace interior below the ionized atmosphere for subsequent collection and removal from within the furnace system. By control of charge composition and process parameters, silicon carbide crystals having predominantly either alpha or beta crystalline structures and with crystal sizes predominantly in the range of 250 to 3,000 microns are produced.

摘要： An electrode holder of a multielectrode furnace comprises at least two parts of a support plate, which are insulated electrically from each other. On each part of the support plate some holes are used for fastening the consumable electrodes, while other holes are used for passing the consumable electrodes. The number of holes in each part of the support plate is equal to the number of the consumable electrodes. At least two of said holes are used for fastening the consumable electrodes and have the shape necessary for fastening the inventory heads of the consumable electrodes. The other holes of the support plate are used for passing the consumable electrodes. The parts of the support plate are installed above each other in such a way that the holes for fastening the consumable electrodes of one part of the support plate should be located coaxially above the holes for passing the consumable electrodes of the other part of the support plate.The parts of the support plate are made of a conductive material and are used for feeding the power to the consumable electrodes. Each part of the support plate with the consumable electrodes arranged thereon is connected to the corresponding lead of a power supply source.
