    摘要: A method and apparatus are disclosed for forming a novel corrugated paperboard web of indefinite length, which web includes a planar facer layer and a corrugated layer the flutes of which extend longitudinally the length of the web. The web is formed by splicing together sections having offset planar facer and corrugated layers of generally equal dimensions, respectively, whereby at one end the facer layer projects beyond the corrugated layer and at the other end the corrugated layer projects beyond the facer layer, the flutes of the corrugated layer extending from one projecting end to the other. Successive sections are spliced together with the projecting facer layer portion of one section overlying the projecting corrugated portion and the facing layer of another section, preferably with the adjacent portions of the corrugated layers of the two sections being in flute-enmeshing engagement. A conventional second web having a planar facer layer and a corrugated layer with transverse flutes may then be bonded in superimposed relation to the first web, thereby defining a third web having successive corrugated layers the flutes of which extend longitudinally and transversely of the third web, respectively.

    摘要: A composite container is disclosed having a synthetic plastic end closure member spin-bonded to the thermoplastic synthetic plastic inner liner layer of a composite container body wall. The synthetic plastic end closure member includes annular downwardly depending inner fin and outer chime portions which are concentrically spaced to define therebetween an annular groove. One of the body and end members is rotated relative to the other member when they are in spaced vertical alignment, whereupon the members are axially displaced together to wedge the upper end of the body member into the annular groove of the end closure member. During this spin bonding process, the fin portion of the end closure member is supported against radial inward deflection, whereby the spinning frictional engagement between the fin portion of the end closure member and the inner liner layer of the body member causes softening and subsequent bonding of the fin portion to the inner liner layer.

    摘要: A side shifter having a quick-mounting anchor bracket for mounting on a conventional hook-type lift truck carriage without the need for welding of any side shifter components, such as a hydraulic ram anchor, to the lift truck carriage. The side shifter features alternative upper and lower hydraulic ram anchors and interlocking relatively movable components which are prevented from disassembly when the side shifter is detached from the lift truck carriage. Friction-reducing bushings for accommodating the transverse sliding motion of the side shifter are engaged with the quick-mounting anchor bracket in such a way so as to prevent not only transverse motion but also upward motion of the bushings which might otherwise occur under the influence of the load moment. The side shifter features lower hook assemblies capable of supporting the side shifter at an elevated position when detached from the lift truck carriage, and capable of exceptionally fine vertical adjustment.

    摘要: An improved composite container is disclosed including a tubular fibrous body wall having at its upper end a reversely curled portion the upper extremity of which is radially inwardly compressed in such a manner as to form an annular external locking projection by means of which a synthetic plastic closure cap may be fastened to close the container. Preferably the closure member is connected with the container by a tearable tamperproof connection including a radially inwardly directed annular rib that is locked beneath the annular body projection to maintain the closure cap on the container. A method is also disclosed for forming the container body, including the steps of radially outwardly curling the upper end of the body member, radially inwardly compressing the upper extremity of the reversely curled portion, and mounting a synthetic plastic snap-type closure member on the compressed curled end. In one embodiment, a circumferential recess is formed (for example, by skiving) in the outer surface of the tubular fibrous body wall prior to the reverse curling step, whereby the upper extremity of the reversely curled portion is radially inwardly compressed into the recess.

    摘要: A takeup reel for a combination hydraulic hose and electrical cable including a rotatable storage portion for taking up and paying out hose and cable, a stationary mounting member on which the storage portion is mounted for rotation, and a rotatable connector providing a fluid connection between hose stored on the storage portion and a supply of hydraulic fluid external to the reel. A brushless electrical connection is provided between cable stored on the storage portion and a supply of electrical energy external to the reel by an interface cable which may be coiled in either of reverse directions about the axis of rotation for the storage portion. A cable housing for the interface cable is joined to the storage portion for rotation therewith. The interface cable includes a plurality of flexible conductor elements. The elements in that portion of the interface cable stored in the cable housing are joined in side-by-side relation to form a flat ribbon-like configuration, and in another portion of the cable the elements are unjoined to form a loose bundle. The unjoined portions of the elements extend through a passage generally parallel to the rotational axis for the line storing portion. The ribbon-like portion of the cable extends radially into the cable housing through a strain relief guide which is mounted for limited rotation about an axis substantially paralleling the rotational axis of the line-storing portion, thus to guide a stretch of the joined cable elements in either of opposite spirally wound directions.
