Abstract:
A pulp pre-processor for the papermaking industry uses pulp fiber analyzers to determine the distribution of fiber parameters, such as length, curl or coarseness from a feed source, such as recycled pulp, and mixes metered portions of pulp from augmenting pulp sources on an as-needed basis to provide a uniform distribution of a particular fiber parameter while maximizing use of recycled pulp.
Abstract:
The present invention provides molecules and methods for the prevention and/or treatment of memory deficit related conditions and/or enhancement of cognizance. In a preferred embodiment, the invention includes compounds, salts and prodrugs thereof for the prevention and/or treatment of these conditions.
Abstract:
An investment casting method involves producing a casting shell by applying a hardenable moist mixture to a sacrificial pattern. To hasten the hardening of the moist mixture to create the shell, a stucco coat is subsequently applied to the mixture. In some cases, the stucco coat comprises a drier mixture of the elements used in the moist mixture. The drier mixture preferably includes a material that alters the alkalinity of the underlying moist mixture. In some cases, the stucco coat also includes an amorphous mineral silicate. Once the shell is created, a molten metal is introduced into the shell to replace the sacrificial pattern, thereby producing a metal cast item.
Abstract:
Orally active benzodiazepine derivatives and their salts are disclosed. These compounds and their salts have anxiolytic and anticonvulsant activity with reduced sedative/hypnotic/muscle relaxant/ataxic effects.
Abstract:
A composition and method for forming investment casting shells includes using colloidal silica, zircon flour, and fused silica in a slurry which is applied to a pattern. After the slurry is applied to the pattern, it is allowed to partially or completely solidify. After the shell has solidified, the pattern may be melted or otherwise removed. A molten material is introduced into the shell and allowed to cool to form an article. Finally, the shell is broken away or otherwise removed from the article. The improved shell slurry composition and corresponding method minimizes pattern-to-pour cycle times and is environmentally friendly.
Abstract:
A new and distinct cultivar of plum, similar to a Japanese-American hybrid-type originating as a hybrid seedling of the cross: ‘Oka’בZ's Blue Giant’. The present cultivar is unique from its maternal parent and other plums adapted to the Midwest Zone 3b and above, because it is similar to many California dessert plums (dark blue-black and nearly round) and with a superior ripe flavor to most common cultivars tested in its ripening season. The instant cultivar is also more dwarf in growth habit and has an earlier fruit maturity than most common midwest plums.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for estimating vehicle yaw rate using a pair of single axis accelerometers that obviate the need for a gyroscope when used to provide a yaw rate estimate to a vehicle stability control system. The accelerometers are longitudinally aligned along an axis with one accelerometer in front of the vehicle center of gravity and one behind it. A method of estimating yaw rate uses a statistical estimating algorithm to process accelerometer inputs and a steer angle from a steer angle sensor on the vehicle.
Abstract:
A three-dimensional (3D) printer system includes a nozzle that can passively align fibers being deposited with resin while creating fiber-reinforced composite components. The nozzle may include a nozzle body with main bore that directs material axially through a nozzle body, toward an alignment duct that provides the nozzle's outlet. The alignment duct may provide a passage in which the fibers are urged into a different orientation aligns the fibers generally parallel to each other in a different direction than the axial flow direction through the nozzle. The alignment duct's passage may be radially asymmetric, such as a tapering rectangular slot(s), which may provide guide surfaces to impart the reorientation of the flowing fibers.
Abstract:
Various embodiments disclosed relate to bridged phthalocyanine- and napththalocyanine-metal complex catalysts and methods using the same for oxidation reactions. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of oxidation including contacting an oxidizable starting material including an alkene with a catalyst and an oxidant, to provide an oxidized product.
Abstract:
A flameless combustion oven arranges gas and air jets to directly impinge on the product being heated to substantially promote transfer of heat to the product by impingement transfer rather than by conventional radiation and thermally induced convection. In one embodiment, a set of spaced air and gas nozzles are uniformly distributed on a wall of the oven opposite the product to provide substantially uniform impingement over a surface of the product.
