Abstract: An automation system including sensors that detect threats within a secured area, a plurality of prospective events defined within a memory of the automation system, each event including at least a physical change in an environment of the secured area, a time of execution of the physical change and a corresponding actuator that causes the physical change, a processor of the automation system that periodically activates the corresponding actuator at the time of each of the plurality of events, a processor that monitors each of the plurality of sensors for activation by an authorized human user and that saves a record of each activation to a cloud memory and a cloud processor that monitors the saved activation records of each sensor over a time period, determines a difference between the saved activations and the plurality of events and that modifies the plurality of events based upon the determined differences.

Abstract: A zone control panel that is easy and intuitive to use and to program. In some embodiments, a zone control panel may be configured to have an easy to use, single level menu structure with, for example, a configuration mode and/or a checkout mode. The configuration mode may, if present, include a number of menu screens sometimes without any sub-menu levels. Likewise, the checkout mode may, if present, include a number of menu screens sometimes without any sub-menu levels. A mode selector may be provided to select a particular mode, after which, the menu screens that correspond to the selected mode may be sequentially displayed to the user. Other features and aspects are also disclosed.

Abstract: A gas valve actuator for a gas valve. The gas valve actuator includes a non-conductive support bobbin and an insulated copper wire wound about the support bobbin to form a coil. A magnetic flux concentration member extends through the non-conductive support bobbin. To actuate the gas valve actuator, a current is passed through the coil, which produces a magnetic field that actuates an armature to move a valve seal away from a valve seat of the gas valve. Because the gas valve actuator may be exposed to a gas stream, the coil may be coated with an anti-corrosion coating through a spray or brush process, a potting process, through a dipping process, or in any other suitable manner.

Abstract: A locally powered intermittent pilot combustion controller may include an igniter, a thermal electric and/or photoelectric device that produces an electrical signal having power when exposed to a flame, and a local power source for providing power when the thermal electric and/or photoelectric device is not exposed to a flame. In some cases, the intermittent pilot combustion controller may include a memory for storing information about an ignition sequence for igniting a pilot flame, and a controller coupled to the memory. The controller may be configured to initiate the ignition sequence of the pilot flame using information stored in the memory, determine whether the ignition was successful by monitoring the electrical signal produced by the thermal electric and/or photoelectric device, and adjust the information stored in the memory based on whether the ignition sequence completed successfully.

Abstract: Apparatus and method for mounting a non-immersion type temperature sensor to a tank, such as a water heater tank, that is designed for an immersion-type temperature sensor. In one example, a mounting adaptor may include a proximal cavity extending from a proximal end toward a distal end and a distal cavity extending from the distal end toward the proximal end. A wall fluidly isolates the proximal cavity from the distal cavity. The mounting adaptor is mounting to the mounting spud of an immersion type water heater tank, such that the distal cavity of the mounting adaptor is filled with water from the water heater tank. A non-immersion type temperature sensor is positioned adjacent to or in the proximal cavity and in thermal communication with the water in the distal cavity.
