Abstract:
A computing device includes a processor, a display component, a keypad assembly and a panel. The display component includes a display area that is pressure-sensitive to detect user-contact with the device over the display area. The display component is coupled to signal the processor when contact is detected. The keypad assembly includes a plurality of key structures. Each of the key structures is aligned over a corresponding contact element provided on an electrical contact layer. Each key structure is pressable, and the corresponding contact element of each key structure is triggerable with contact to signal the processor. The panel is provided over the display area to extend between the key structures and the electrical contact layer. The panel is structured so that, when the computing device is operational, (i) a user contact with a region of the panel that overlies the display area is detectable by the display component to signal the processor, and (ii) pressure on any key structure is sufficient to move at least a portion of the panel inward into the corresponding contact element in order to trigger the contact element into signaling the processor.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to excision of explant material comprising meristematic tissue from seeds, and storage of such material prior to subsequent use in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation. Methods for tissue preparation, storage, and transformation are disclosed, as is transformable meristem tissue produced by such methods, and apparati for tissue preparation.
Abstract:
A urine detection system is provided for detecting degree of wetness of a diaper, comprising a plane printing electrode, a sensor, and a display unit. The plane printing electrode comprises a first electrode area and a second electrode area. The sensor comprises a first sensor electrode, a second sensor electrode and a processor. Wherein the first sensor electrode and the first electrode area forms a first capacitor, and the second sensor electrode and the second electrode area forms a second capacitor. The processor, detects capacitance of the first and second capacitors, and determines a signal representing degree of wetness of the diaper. The display unit receives the signal and displays the degree of wetness corresponding to the signal.
Abstract:
A display system for a handheld computing device includes a processing unit having a first communication port, and a visual display unit separable from the processing unit. The visual display unit further includes a visual display, and a second communication port. The display unit can be expanded from an initial or storage state to present a larger visual display size. Further, the first communication port providing communication with the second communication port.
Abstract:
A digital modulator includes a quantizer and a mapper. The quantizer converts a dithered signal value to a voltage. The mapper provides a modulated signal based on the voltage received from the quantizer. The mapper may maintain a substantially identical average centroid for modulated signals provided by the mapper. In an aspect, the mapper is included in a feedback of the digital modulator. The digital modulator may include any number of mappers. For example, a mode selection switch may select one of a plurality of mappers to map a voltage level received from the quantizer to a respective digital sequence.
Abstract:
Restore media, such as a CD, for restoring an information handling system to a manufacture state is automatically created from the manufacture image and descriptive files used to create the manufacture load script. A restore media adapter expands the manufacture image to determine the manufacture state partitions, associates identification information metadata with the image, generates restore media load script to install the image on an information handling system with compatible partitions, and formats the image and load script as virtual restore media, such as a virtual CD. The virtual restore media acts as a master for archiving and communicates through electronic communication, such as a network, to a replicator for mass production of restore media.
Abstract:
The invention relates, in part, to methods for detecting, monitoring, measuring or assessing an interaction between at least two proteins. The invention also relates, in part, to methods for determining if a test compound, or a mix of compounds, modulates an interaction between at least two proteins. In some embodiments, determination is made possible via the use of two recombinant molecules, e.g., one of which contains a first protein cleavage site for a proteolytic molecules, and an activator of a gene. A second recombinant molecule may include a second protein and the proteolytic molecule. Various other formats are provided by the invention. In some embodiments, if the test compound binds to the first protein, a reaction is initiated whereby the activator is cleaved, and activates a reporter gene.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus to recover a construct definition associated with a logical volume in a virtual tape server (VTS) system following a disaster situation involving a library manager database. The method and apparatus re-establish the association between a logical volume or data file or block and a construct definition or volume attribute that assigns certain actions that may be taken on the logical volumes. Such actions and constructs may be defined by a client processor or by the VTS system in order to provide quality storage media management. The constructs may be uploaded to or reconstructed within the library manager database in combination with the host or virtual tape server and consequently made available to the system. In particular, the method and apparatus are configured to recover one or more of a storage group construct, a management class construct, a storage class construct, and a data class construct associated with a logical volume within a VTS system.
