    摘要: To suppress light leakage at the time of dark state, and to provide a liquid crystal display device whose electrodes in the reflection areas can be formed with high precision. The liquid crystal display device has a reflection area within a pixel unit by corresponding at least to a reflection plate forming part, and the reflection area is driven with a lateral electric field mode and normally-white. A driving electrode for forming an electric field to a liquid crystal layer of the reflection area is formed on the reflection plate via an insulating film by using a non-transparent electric conductor.

    摘要: A TFT and a passivation film are formed on a transparent substrate and thereafter the passivation film is annealed. When measuring drain currents of a TFT at a fixed turn-on voltage (Von) and a fixed turn-off voltage (Voff), although performance of a TFT annealed (solid line) rarely changes, performance of a TFT not annealed (dashed line) changes to a large extent, in more detail, drain current drastically decreases in accordance with the change of TFT performance. This phenomenon means that on-resistance of a TFT not annealed is being increased to a great extent.

    摘要: A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal cell, first and second polarizers disposed outside the liquid crystal cell, first and second retardation plates arranged between the first and second polarizers, and the liquid crystal cell, and optical layers arranged between the first and second retardation plates and the liquid crystal cell. The first and second retardation plates have lagging axes perpendicular with each other. The first polarizer has an absorption axis inclining by about 45 degrees relative to the lagging axis of the first retardation plate, and inclining by about 90 degrees relative to an absorption axis of the second polarizer. The absorption axes of the first and second polarizers are angularly deviated such that characteristic of a viewing angle in the liquid crystal display device is rendered symmetric, relative to a symmetry axis about which liquid crystal is aligned in different directions.

    摘要: In order to improve processing steps of fabricating an active-matrix addressed reflective liquid crystal display, a lower substrate, which is positioned at one side with respect to a liquid crystal layer, is provided with two electrodes in parallel with each other and in parallel with the liquid crystal layer. One of the two electrodes is electrically coupled to a source electrode of a switching element assigned to one pixel, and the other electrode is electrically couple to a constant potential source. Each of the two electrodes has characteristics of light reflectivity, which is able to reduce the intensity of exposing light when an insulating layer provided above the electrodes is patterned.
