Abstract:
A pulse-stretcher has an optical delay loop including a beamsplitter. The beamsplitter divides an input pulse into a temporal sequence of pulse replicas, a first of which is transmitted by the beamsplitter and the remainder of which are reflected by the beamsplitter along the path of the transmitted replica. The sequence of replicas form an initially stretched pulse having a longer duration and lower peak power than the input pulse. A prism cooperative with the delay loop reflects the initially stretched pulse back into the delay loop along a path laterally displaced from the replica path. The beamsplitter divides the initially stretched pulse into a temporal sequence of pulse replicas propagating along a common path to form a finally stretched pulse, having a longer duration and a lower peak power than the initially stretched pulse. The finally stretched pulse has a sequence of power peaks. Peak power in the pulse is minimized when the beamsplitter reflectivity is selected such that the power of the first two of these peaks is equal.
Abstract:
Apparatus for projecting a line of light includes a linear array of diode-lasers arranged in a diode-laser bar. The apparatus includes an optical system. Components of the system include a plurality of lenses and array of cylindrical microlenses having the same spacing as diode-lasers in the diode-laser array. The microlens array is spaced at a distance from the diode-laser bar and aligned with the diode-laser bar such that the front focal plane of the microlens array is between the diode-laser bar and the microlens array. The optical system components are configured and arranged to project overlapping elongated images in a predetermined plane. The overlapping images form the line of light. The elongated images are images of cross-sections of beams from the diode-lasers where the beams are intersected by the front focal plane of the microlens array.
Abstract:
A printing system disposed in a local or wide area network in which one of a plurality of queries is transmitted from a client to a server for obtaining a set of information including both a file with static information and a subset of dynamic information is provided. The subset of dynamic information varies as a function of one or more print related characteristics of a document processing system with which the server communicates. The printing system includes a parsing subsystem, communicating with the client for receiving the one of the plurality of queries, the parsing subsystem facilitating the obtaining of the set of information by copying a portion of the file, in response to reading a first instruction, and communicating the copied portion at the server for storage thereat. The printing system further includes a query resolving subsystem, communicating with the parsing subsystem, for obtaining the subset of dynamic information from the document processing system in response to the parsing system reading a second instruction. In practice, the copied portion of the file and the subset of dynamic information are combined for output thereof at the client.
Abstract:
A document server is provided for processing a distribution job in a document processing system. The document processing system includes a document manager, communicating with first and second virtual services, for coordinating the storing or processing of first and second copies of an image data set at the first and second virtual services, respectively. The document processing system further includes a distribution agent, communicating with the document manager, for receiving a first job ticket, including attributes for controlling the storing or processing of the first copy of the image data set at the first virtual service and a second job ticket for controlling the storing or processing of the second copy of the image data set at the second virtual service. The document manager and the distribution agent function cooperatively to provide the document server with the capability to halt the processing of the first and second copies of the image data set in order for altering attributes of the first and second job tickets, and to determine the status of the processing of the first and second copies of the image data set. Moreover, the distribution agent can provide values for attributes of the first and second job tickets when a user does not program those values in the first and second job tickets.
Abstract:
An assembly is provided to support a track for guiding a cutting tape across the width of a travelling web of paper being wound up on a roll, which must eventually be cut and transferred to an empty wind up roll. The assembly includes a track to guide the cutting tape, a track carrier to hold the track, and a track carrier support to be fastened to the track carrier and support it above a flat base.
Abstract:
A device in a cassette container for applying a strip of double-sided adhesive to a surface which comprises a rotatable supply roll of a composite tape consisting of a strip of double-sided pressure-sensitive tape adhered to a backing layer strip, a transfer roller adapted to receive the composite tape, temporarily adhere to the tape and, after rotating through a portion of a turn, apply the adhesive strip to a receiving surface. A return bend surface is provided near the transfer roller for separating the backing layer from the adhesive strip adhering to the transfer roll; a channel leads the stripped backing layer away from the transfer roll, and a braking means selectively prevents rotation of the transfer roller and releases the roller for free rotation.
Abstract:
A system for feeding a cutting tape for a paper wind up machine along a track guide to apply a strip of adhesive to the forward end, measure it and cut the tape to a desired length, store it temporarily in the form of a hanging loop, feed the adhesive coated forward end to the exit end of the track adjacent a new roll for wind up of a paper web, and a brake to provide resistance to the tape so as to become tension to cut the web of paper and transfer it to the new roll.
Abstract:
An exercise apparatus for performing isometric body exercises such as bar dips and vertical leg lifts which includes a standard having a straight upper leg with a dependent inclined lower leg having a lower support plate. A handlebar head is removably supported on the standard and a crossbar is located above the standard and extends laterally with distally located handles. A pair of walls struts are supported on the head such that the apparatus may be located in a corner of a room wherein the two struts bear against the adjacent walls of the corner.
