Abstract:
Microfluidic devices including a microfluidic channel with at least one surface having a plurality of chiral nanoparticles disposed thereon include a light-absorbing material (e.g., gold) and a targeting ligand capable of binding to a bioactive target analyte in a biological fluid sample. The bioactive target analyte can indicate presence of cancerous cells or mutated proteins in the biological fluid sample taken from a subject. Chiral gold nanoparticle layer-by-layer assembled onto a microfluidic device can rapidly isolate and profile cancer-associated exosomes directly from blood plasma using their own unique chiral signal. Exosomes from lung cancer patients can be distinguished from healthy donor exosomes by chiroptical spectroscopic signatures of biomolecular components. Mutation/deletion of epidermal growth factor receptor are also characterized, suggesting the possibility for in-depth mutation profiling in addition to cancer diagnostics. Methods of detecting bioactive target analytes and making the microfluidic devices are also provided.

A clock signal processor includes a duty cycle corrector, a switch point calculator, and a multiplexer. The duty cycle corrector generates a second clock signal by modifying a duty cycle of a first clock signal. The switch point calculator activates a switch signal at an end of a latency period in which a read command is provided to a non-volatile memory device and an invalid data is read from the non-volatile memory device. The multiplexer outputs one of the first and second clock signals as a third clock signal based on the switch signal.

The present disclosure relates to a field emission X-ray tube apparatus for facilitating cathode replacement, and more particularly, to a field emission X-ray tube apparatus for facilitating cathode replacement in which gates and cathodes are easily arranged through a joining member and a rotation preventing guide when gates and insulating spacers are rotated and joined with the cathodes while the cathodes and respective gates maintain electrical insulation, thereby easily replacing the cathodes.

Embodiments described herein provide approaches for benefit promotion advertising in an augmented reality (AR) environment. Specifically, users are presented with an advertisement overlay generated for a video sequence from a mobile device. The advertisement overlay comprises a set of AR objects, and an incentive to the user to interact with the AR objects of the advertisement overlay. Responses from the user are recognized, and a benefit is provided to the user based on the response to the incentive. As such, advertisement campaigns in the AR environment are made more appealing to the user and, consequently, more effective for the advertiser.
Abstract:
A packet decoding method and apparatus of a digital broadcast system is provided for improving decoding performance by reordering blocks to be decoded and adjusting a number of decoding iterations of each block. A packet decoding method of the present invention includes measuring Signal-to-Noise Ratios (SNRs) of individual packets within a slot, determining a decoding order of the packets according to the SNRs, and decoding the packets in the decoding order. The decoding method and apparatus of a digital broadcast system according to the present invention performs decoding on the packets having the highest channel estimation performance first with reduced number of decoding iterations and reallocates the saved number of decoding iterations to remaining packets having relatively low channel estimation performance, thereby improving the decoding performance of the received packets.

A method and apparatus for reducing a Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) using peak windowing is provided. In the apparatus, an absolute value calculator calculates an absolute value of an input signal, a subtractor subtracts a predetermined clipping threshold level from the absolute value, a smoothing unit performs smoothing on the subtracted signal according to a predetermined smoothing scheme and outputs a first smoothed signal, an adder adds the first smoothed signal to the clipping threshold level, an inverse calculator outputs a second smoothed signal by multiplying the clipping threshold level by an inverse of the added signal, and a multiplier outputs a final PAPR-reduced signal by multiplying the input signal by the second smoothed signal. The method and apparatus address an overcompensation problem while processing signals having a large bandwidth and a high data rate without delay, thereby minimizing the clipping influences on Bit Error Rate (BER) and Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio (ACLR) performances.

Provided is a field emission device having a simple structure and capable of pulse driving and local dimming. The field emission device turns a current flowing from each cathode electrode block on or off in response to a switching control signal having a very low voltage ranging from 0 to 5 V while a constant voltage is applied to an anode electrode and a gate electrode to control a field emission current. Compared with a conventional field emission device, the field emission device having a simple structure is capable of pulse driving and local dimming without using a separate pulse driving high voltage power source.

A field emission device having a simple structure and capable of readily changing emission colors of light by adjusting emission intensity of red, green and blue light is provided. In the field emission device, current that flows into each cathode electrode block is adjusted according to a very low control pulse signal of 0 to 5 V with a predetermined voltage applied to an anode electrode and a gate electrode over time, so that emission intensities of red, green and blue are individually adjusted. Therefore, the current that flows into each cathode electrode block is adjusted in a simple manner using a control pulse signal of a low level without a separate pulse driving high-voltage power supply, so that emission intensities of red, green and blue can be arbitrarily adjusted and emission colors of the field emission device can be readily changed.
