Abstract:
A material for a liquid-crystal alignment film which comprises as a first polyamide a C3 to C10 alkyl ester of a polyamic acid whose acid anhydride residual group is any of: and as a second polyamide a C3 to C10 alkyl ester of a polyamic acid whose acid anhydride residual group is: is provided. The use of this material materializes a liquid-crystal alignment film having a high pre-tilt angle of molecules to the substrate, and having superiority in respect of electrical properties such as voltage holding ratio and residual DC voltage, adherence to substrates, printability, and step-covering properties.

Abstract:
An EL element including a first electrode, a luminescent layer, an insulation layer, and a second electrode is laminated so that a short circuit between the first electrode and the second electrode at a defect of the insulation layer between the luminescent layer and the second electrode is prevented. A cavity 41 is formed in the layer 4 under an area 51 at which the second insulation layer 5 is missing. The second electrode 6 is separated by the cavity 41 from the first insulation layer 3 located under the luminescent layer 4 to prevent a short circuit.
Abstract:
A selectively driven compressor for stopping the power generating operation of a motor when an internal combustion engine is operating to make it unnecessary to provide the motor that can withstand high voltage. The system reduces the load on the internal combustion engine. The system includes a pulley driven by a main drive source, an electric motor, which includes an armature and a field system, driven by a power source. The compressor is driven selectively by the pulley or the electric motor. The armature and the field system of the electric motor are independently supported. The pulley is mechanically connected to either of the armature and the field system, and the compressor is mechanically connected to the other.
Abstract:
Phase and amplitude deviations, which are generated, for example, by cables connecting an array antenna of a CDMA base station and the base station, are calibrated in the baseband. The base station comprises: an antenna apparatus 1; couplers 2; an RF unit 3 that converts a receive signal to a baseband signal, converts a transmit signal to a radio frequency, and performs power control; an A/D converter 4 for converting a receive signal to a digital signal; a receive beam form unit 6 that multiplies the receive signal by semi-fixed weight; a despreader 7 for this signal input; a time-space demodulator 8 for demodulating user data; a despreader 9 for probe signal; a space modulator 14 for user data; a spreader 13 for user signal; a channel combiner 12; a Tx calibrater 11 for controlling calibration of a signal; a D/A converter 10; a unit 16 for calculation of correlation matrix for generating a probe signal used for controlling an Rx calibration system and a TX calibration system; a spreader 17 for probe signal; a power control unit 18; a D/A converter 19; an RF unit 20 for probe signal; an A/D converter 21 for signal from the couplers 2; and a despreader 22.
Abstract:
An infrared light irradiation lamp comprises a lighting chamber S formed by a lamp body 12 and a front lens 14, a reflector 16 provided in the lamp body 12, a light source 20 provided ahead of the reflector 16 in the lighting chamber S, and a cylindrical globe 30 for infrared light formation which is provided to cover the light source 20 and serves to shield a visible light and to transmit only an infrared light, wherein diffusion steps 17 and 15 are provided in a peripheral region 16a of the light source in the reflector 16 and/or a region 14a in the front lens 14 corresponding to the peripheral region 16a of the light source in the reflector. Thus, a red light component L2 of a visible light transmitted through the globe 30 and guided to the peripheral region 16a of the light source in the reflector is diffused and reflected (L21, L22) or is diffused and emitted through the region 14a of the central part of the front lens so that the luminous flux density of the red light component distributed forward is reduced to dilute a red light emitted from the lamp.
Abstract:
A head is provided with a driving signal line having a driving terminal for receiving a driving signal sent from an apparatus to the head, and an identification terminal. The driving signal line is electrically connected to the identification terminal. With the use of the driving signal line and the identification terminal, the head is identified.
Abstract:
An ink-jet printer for printing by scanning a printing head having a plurality of nozzles arranged in a predetermined direction, each designed to discharge an ink droplet (100), over a printing medium in a direction substantially perpendicular to the array direction of the nozzles includes a driving means for time-divisionally driving the nozzles in accordance with driving signals (300) with timings of a plurality of blocks. When multipass printing is performed by scanning different nozzles over each printing area a plurality of times, the driving means drives nozzles used to print the same raster at timings of at least two different blocks. This makes it possible to reduce density unevenness of a printed image due to periodic ink pressure variations.
Abstract:
An ink jet head comprises a plurality of discharge pressure generating elements serving as the discharge pressure source for discharging an ink droplet, an orifice plate having a plurality of ink discharge ports corresponding to the respective discharge pressure generating elements formed therefor, an ink supply port for supplying ink and a nozzle wall forming an ink flow path communicating the ink discharge ports with the ink supply port. The orifice plate and the nozzle wall are formed by resin material, and also, a thin metallic film is formed on the outer surface of the orifice plate. If desired, a water-repellent film is formed further on the surface of the thin metallic film. With the metallic film formed on the surface of the orifice plate, the moisture in ink is effectively prevented from being evaporated. Further, with the provision of the metallic film, it becomes possible to perform the eutectoid plating for the formation of the water-repellent film. With the head thus structured, it becomes possible to stably obtain excellent print quality.
